My father and I were spending the day in Toronto for the Disturbed The Sickness 25th anniversary tour and we were STARVING when we got there. We parked and just started exploring. It was cold, so we went inside the building that looked like it had some restaurants inside. What a weird place! it was 3-4 stories of interconnected office buildings that were also somehow apartments and sequences of mall food courts connected by pathways. I'm not kidding you when I say we were lost for almost an hour within a 1 block radius.
Then we saw it...our beacon of hope. Out a window we saw the red sign for The Fox. We then began our adventure of trying to exit the fresh hell we got ourselves into and make our way there. almost another hour later we finally made it!
We sat at the bar and were greeted and given menus. They had an all day beer special which really hit the spot. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and my father ordered the pasta with "one really big meatball" it said in the menu. It wasn't wrong, that was a huge meatball!
We loved the décor. Old signs, kinda a chaotic retro vibe, and they have the leg lamps from the Christmas Story on the bar!
The bartender was amazing, and when her shift ended and they were getting ready for dinner and the pre-show crowd she introduced us to the new bartenders who were just as attentive so they knew what we were drinking and our names because they had good communication.
We spent about 3 hours at that bar. It was awesome. They had poker on the TV, we struck up good conversation with some locals and those also going to the show, and around an hour before doors they started blasting hard rock/heavy metal favorites for the clientele clearly about to go see the show.
On top of all that, if you're from the US your money will go a long way here. we had 4 beers each and two big lunches all for the equivalent of like 65 bucks plus tip. That's an absolute STEAL these days. Maybe we caught them on a great day, but how this is only 4/5 stars on average with some really bad reviews confuses me. I created a core memory with my father here and this place really turned the whole day around when we were tired, stressed, and cold. Next time I go to a show in the area I will likely take my fiancé and friends here as well because I want to re-create those same memories with them.

Read moreFood was great and service was friendly. Due to the area, their decor walks a fine line between casual business lunches and pub to watch the game at night (or post game - the ACC is across the street). We were there for dinner but there was not game so the it was a little on the quiet side.
The walls are filled with black and white photos of prohibition and whimsical sayings related to drinking.
They that a good selection of beers on tap, a reasonable size liquor bar and a few wines on the menu.
The food served was piping hot. We got the nachos, Swiss burger and the appetizer platter - everything was great. The burger was a little on the juicy side, could have let it rest for another minute or two, but full of flavour and not over cooked. The platter had a good assortment with deep fried pickles, jerked chicken, spring rolls and fries. We ordered a side gravy for the fries but they were actually pretty good without - their gravy is really good though and worth the add on.
The nachos were flat out amazing. Served on a skillet, they tower high and were topped accordingly. I judge my nachos on flavour and how they are built. I don’t like when I get to end have a bunch of chips or topping without chips left - feels like a waste. We had four chips left and we could have scraped the bottom for some topping if we wanted. That’s a really good build. The pulled pork and chicken sprinkled throughout the nachos was full of flavour and added a nice change from the standard toppings. I highly recommend them.
A little on the pricier side (two people will probably come to around $80 with drinks) but I...
Read moreI love this place but the last time I went I wasn't impressed. Normally the food, drinks and service is great but the last time I went it was slacking a bit. When we ordered our drinks (sangria) it was fine, then she came back saying they couldn't find something to go in and if that was fine, we said it was. Then she came back saying they don't have the right fruit to go in it and asked if that was okay, it's fruit we didn't care. Finally when we got our drinks it just tastes like wine instead if sangria but we drank it. Our food was okay but they did mix up some stuff but that didn't bother us we we're just hungry so we ate it without complaining. We we're talking, then noticed it was getting late so we wanted our bill, we waited and waited for our waitress to walk by but it didn't happen for at least an hour then finally out of nowhere she appeared so we got the bills but then the machine ran out of paper. We did eventually get out of there but I don't know why the service was bad that day, normally this place is great and I never...
