I wish I could give this place a higher rating because the food tastes great. I ordered the Beef Suya Combo w/ Jollof rice. The flavours were great, first time having both dishes and they were really tasty. Rice had a smokiness and slight spice and the beef was really well seasoned with good salt levels. Their hot sauce is very spicy (coming from someone with a high spice tolerance) and if I was to get this again I would ask for it to be on the side rather than tossed onto the meat.

Had to dock 2 stars for reasons unrelated to flavour.

First price, for a meat and rice meal paying over $30 all in seems quite high, even though the portion was solid I don't think I would pay $30 for a single person takeout meal again. That being said i don't know how labor intensive the recipe is so this isn't as big of a deal.

The main issue I had with my order was the grease/oil. I ordered delivery and the food was delivered in a brown paper bag. The drink was placed inside the bag. There was so much oil that my drink can was completely covered in oil when I took it out. Even after taking out the food from the bag, there was a puddle of oil that pooled on my table just from the remnants that were left in the bag. The takeout container with the food was no better. As tasty as the food was, I could not finish the meal and had to stop not even halfway through. There was a large pool of oil underneath the rice, enough to the point that even after mixing up the rice it was oversaturated and oil remained pooled underneath and it became unappetizing at some point. I would really consider giving this place another shot if an improvement could be made...

I usually don’t leave reviews, but I feel this experience needs to be shared so management is aware.

Today, I placed an order and received a call from the store confirming that it was ready. I rushed over, expecting a quick pickup. When I arrived, there was one customer ahead of me, which I completely understood and was willing to wait.

However, when another staff member came to the counter, I began asking about my order—since it had already been prepared over an hour ago. That’s when one particular staff member (who rudely told me she couldn’t pronounce her name when I asked) abruptly interrupted and ordered me to stop speaking to the other staff member. Her tone and approach were unprofessional and completely unnecessary, especially since I was just trying to retrieve an order I had already been contacted about.

Thankfully, the other staff member kindly helped me and even asked me not to leave a negative review because it might affect the team. And I get that—some of the staff here are hardworking and dedicated. But when poor behavior is not addressed, it sends the wrong message, and the same staff will assume that rudeness is acceptable simply because no one says anything.

I traveled all the way from North to East just to buy from this location, and I was shocked by the way I was treated. One rude experience can leave a lasting impression, no matter how good the food or product is.

Management needs to consider placing reasonable and patient people at the front counter—not staff who lack basic courtesy and customer...

Reduced from 5 star to 1, you guys need new staff Used to love this place, been getting suya from this place since they opened and was a very loyal customer until my last visit, I usually only oder large suya and large joll of rice and I have been getting since they opened so during one of mt recent visit i had the same oder and noticed when i odered they did not take our name down which they usually used to, so this time they didnt so thought since they know us they might have recognized us, but when i got the place they wanted me to pay for 3 large frys with my order and when i refused, the employee shamed me buy saying "ohh if you dont have the money just say it," it was not that i didnt have the money , i just didn't want 3 large fries which i didnt order and funny enough they lady behind me raised her voice and said i placed that order, as soon as this cook employee who came from inside to shame me heard that she ran away, anyway i wanted to say this to the owner that day but the employee at the counter begged me not to so here I am leaving my review and even the owner itself knows me from going to this place e literally every week, I drove that day all the way from windsor just to get my favorite suya but never ever again returning to this place after that horrible experience plus the food smells like gasoline or something nowadays just not the good old suya anymore 😢 💔

Edit : July 2024, they food doesn't taste like gasoline, they seem to have improved and there no wait time suya anymore, and they got new...

I've always wanted to try West African food, and this was a good recommendation by my friend from Nigeria. The food we sampled was all great. I had the Combo 2 consisting of beef & chicken suya with jolof rice. The price was a little pricy at over $20, but I would say it was well worth it. There were a lot of food portions in the order that I was able to take some of the food to-go for eating later at home. The taste of suya was not too much different from other grilled food; however, suya still has its own distinct character. The combination of the grilled meat with the salad or coleslaw with the plantain and jolof rice was exquisite. The spice mix use was also just a little different to make suya distinct. My friend had all praises for his order of the suya wrap. The food item was very filling with generous portions of protein included in it. My only complaint was their transition into the new menu pricing and with their online order was not very smooth at all. They had a card with a QR code that should direct you to the online site for ordering, but the code was not quick to register. There was also no place on the online site to enter the discount code to get 10% off your order. The operators should have been better trained and familiar with the whole online order process and the expected interface that customers will run into.

Delicious! I would definitely come again and eat more! I had first heard about Suya Spot from Suresh Doss on CBC. My wife happened to be in the Morningside neighbourhood so I asked her to pick something up. Since I am a huge goat fan, I opted for the goat suya. The meat was dry, in a good way, not like beef or chicken that would taste terrible. The pieces came with assortments of bone and fat that made it all the more delicious. The serving came with a cabbage and red onion salad (no dressing) and some delightful hot sauce. My wife even enjoyed the goat which surprised me. I think it cost $10, so for me it was a little bit on the pricier side. The only downside is that my wife said she got the once-over look from the woman at the till, perhaps described/interpreted as 'what is this fancy looking white woman doing here?'; she's here to sample your delicious food and learn more about your culture!
