2023 VegTO fest - Among the 200 vendors this year, there were also those that allowed you to test, sample, and formulate questions. It takes special people not only to handle all the questions from the masses but also to be at their best and respond with kindness and respect ("one love").
So, when the end of the fest came, all of a sudden, at 6 pm and nobody was interested in looking after us, there was "Vital-Life Vegan Restaurant" to serve and protect.
I asked a busy gentleman, trying to close shop, if I could buy some leftovers, while I looked at the nicely spiced chickpeas and rice. I was then provided with a designers cardboard plate, 2 disposable forks, and a bunch of serviettes. Of course, the delicious looking chickpeas and the rice followed. The chickpeas rolled gently and were accommodated on one side, then the rice on the other. At that moment, I was a happy man. "😊" Not only did I get a second fork for my wife and serviettes without asking. I was served with dignity and respect. When I asked how much I owed, here came true love. The store was closing, and it was complimentary. I was not asked to come to the store or to put in a good word. This plate was made on Earth but served from heaven onto Earth.
This was nearly a religious experience for me. They still happen, and there is proof right here. I remain a happy and healthy person because of these unique individuals who take more pride in bringing joy onto others than to reward themselves. They work hard and efficiently, they work as a team, without getting on each other's ways, and all this to make this a better world. There is always retribution, and this is where we come.
Please do try the awesome food of "Vital-Life Vegan Rstaurant." It is a super healthy choice, and you will love their vegan food prepared with love. You can count on that 💞 🙏...
Thank you to the gentleman who looked after us, two cyclists in fluorescent green jackets. A virtual hug 🤗 goes to you, and may your health always be at its best, and your business flourish even further.
We will see you in the...
Read moreI've been eating Vita Life's vegan food on weekends when they'd have a pop-up stall at my local farmer's market, so I was very excited to hear that they had secured a permanent spot in Chinatown East. It's a small space with seating for maybe 12 people and you'll miss it if you blink , but that would be your loss!
The food is ital - vegan Jamaican cooking prepared in keeping with the principles of the Rastafarian religion. Toronto is blessed with having a few ital spots in other neighbourhoods, but this one is a first for the east end (if you're not counting Ital Vital in Scarborough). Probably due to the location, the food is a little more expensive than what you'd see at other ital joints, but the quality of the food is better than anything else out there!
You can literally taste Vita Life's commitment to serving fresh, local, organic food with every bite. I've eaten my way through 80% of their menu by now and there's nothing I would not heartily recommend. It's also one of the only place to get jerk vegan food, so worth a visit for that...
Read moreHappy I came across this Caribbean spot! It’s hard to find one that offer vegan options let alone be completely plant based…and it was delicious and authentic! I tried the Jerk Bowl (not usually a fan of soy meats but the seasoning was the perfect blend of that smoky spicy jerk). The bowl same came with a generous serving of rice and peas, a fresh salad and plantain. I also got a chickpea patty which was a lot of potato and would rather try the collard green patty next time. The pastry was nice and flaky though, again it’s rare to find vegan patties so it was nice they had these on deck. Guyne was friendly and welcoming, after chatting I learned they have only been open a couple of years and hope they continue thriving like they deserve to ~ looking forward to visiting again and trying the other dishes when I’m on...
