August 2022: Oh my God, I'm in love with this place! It's rare these days that I have such a wonderful experience that I fall for getting dessert even when full, and for such an amazing price too.
Everything was superb about this. I'd been a few times before to pick up an oat latte and ordered Uber Eats but I try not to base reviews on take away/Uber. I enjoyed it then so figured we'd stop for lunch and dine in.
Perfect for us they have a dog-friendly patio. Nice and shaded and not on the busy street like so many CafeTO offerings. Service was friendly, quick, and excellent.
You get so much food for the price! I cannot stress this enough. These days I'm so accustomed to a $12 hotdog being some small little thing on a thin bun with maybe a little bit of topping. This was totally loaded with veggies and guac! And came with fries too! The bonus is that it is super tasty and high-quality. I don't normally get all of that in one package. Value for money is phenomenal. Just be ready to get a little messy ;) There are so many toppings and sauces.
Frankly, I can't understand why anybody would go anywhere else in all of Leslieville/Riverside/Danforth for South American tacos when you can get them here. They are huge, delicious and you get 3 for $14! We couldn't even finish all the food. As always, the oat latte was great. At the end, our server talked us into some brigadeiro (truffles) for dessert and you get 3 for $5!
Overall, fantastic experience! Will definitely return over and over. Today, we saw the big queue for Lady Marmalade and only a few tables in use just a block away at Completo and have to tell Torontonians to lay off on this insistence on eggs benny for brunch (it's not that great). Think outside the box. I know I sound like a shill, but seriously, I want Completo to stay around for a long time and if you're in line for a typical brunch, like 1 min away is an awesome alternative, and perfect at every other time too.
UPDATE, January 2025: Still 5 stars. :D I am so glad this place stays the same year after year. I've been here numerous times and counting, and it is always good, always consistent, and everything...
Read moreOne of the staff was rude to us and claimed we’re racist just because we asked if anyone spoke Spanish here - because the restaurant serves Latino cuisine ! The food was ok, although the wait time was very long
edit: We did not force anyone to speak a language they don’t speak. We spoke English to all the servers
We said thank you and please to whoever were serving us. We were polite, did not say a single bad word the entire time even after you blatantly called us racist
You, the person replying here, came from the kitchen out of nowhere when we were on our way leaving and accused us of being racist. We never spoke to you or had any interactions prior to that. You weren’t even in the proximity to fully hear our conversations with the front servers
Yes, people do go to a pizzeria and try to start a conversation about Italian culture, it’s not as crazy as you think. In fact many would ask about origin of the ingredients, background of the chefs, decorations in the restaurant, etc. It’s called a dining experience. Surprise?
If you didn’t want that to happen, maybe don’t put a ton of cultural decors all around the place and advertise for the authenticity of your food. Simply run your place like McDonald’s. But then don’t complain about not receiving tips because no one tips at McDonald’s. I think you were just angry about that. I don’t regret not tipping someone who called me racist for trying to speak a little Spanish in a Latino...
Read moreMy father went to this location, as we seen a instagram post, we seen the berlines, y churrasco and immediately went to go and try some.
Being Chilean, you expect this to be just like it is in Chile.
First and foremost; The person taking orders didnt speak spanish. A language barrier, clearly if you are selling latin food, id assume youd have someone within the establishment to speak castellano.
The names given to the food is very chilean. You'd think they would be prepared and serve just like in chile.
The berlines is no where NEAR, the size of a chilean berline is supposed to be. El berline chileno es super mas grande, quizás doble el tamaño.
The empanads, are no where near the size or how they are made back home.
The churrascos was good but the way they layer the toppings is not how un churrasco se ace. My father did like his churrasco so did my grandma. Pero el churrasco once again se vende con papas. Usually its the sandwich with Fries, you buy the drink aside back home.
Not to mention the size of el "completo" is twice the size. We are known for this specific reason on why its called el completo. the toppings where all over the place, and not in order. Completo was not the size, We are known for.
This establishment is great for people who want a quick bite. Its great for locals who arnt really aware of chilean Foods. But want to get a slight taste of what we do eat similar to.
No free parking. Street parking must be paid...
