To date, wife and I have visited Wok & Fortune 2 times now.
It fits into our budget for places for cheap eats, which is usually where to people can chow down on a meal for about $20-$25 bux before taxes.
If the owner happens to be around the service is really good. If he isn't around the service seems to be more hit and miss.
We always keep our eyes open for cheap eat type restos.
On our first visit we ordered : seafood & tofu soup, shrimp hakka noodle and lemon chicken.
The portion to price point was good. There was more than enough shrimp hakka noodle for the both of us the only downside was that I had requested the dish to be made without the cabbage. I guess something may have gotten lost in translation, since I ended up picking out shredded cabbage pieces from the dish with chopsticks.
The seafood & tofu soup was good I'd say about 3.5 - 4 out of 5.
The lemon chicken dish actually surprised me. It was served separately, the chicken was on a platter and the breading was light instead of heavy and the lemon sauce was served in its' own bowl. This is a first where the breaded chicken pieces were not swimming in lemon sauce. The lemon chicken was too much where we ended up taking the left over lemon chicken home minus the lemon sauce.
This establishment is not fully authentic chinese base on the youtube video of Mike Chen of Strictly Dumpling channel.
On our 2nd visit we opted to show up around lunch time to try out their lunch specials.
On this visit, my wife ordered chicken and veggies entree which came with 2 spring rolls, (option of either small bowl of soup or a pop) she opted for chicken corn soup and egg fried rice was part of the offering. I had thought my order would be similar. I had ordered Singapore noodles as the entree option. It turned out if you order noodles as the entree they DON'T give you the egg fried rice. So I ended up with a larger than expected dish of Singapore noodles.
As for return visit, the answer would be "Yes". Even tho they got our shrimp hakka noodle slightly wrong, the price falls in our cheap eats budget. There are also many other dishes we are interested in trying out, along with repeat order on the...
Read more25 January 2025 Food is as tasty as we remembered from our last visit. We are really not sure why there are not more write-ups about this place. They make delicious Guyanese-Chinese, Cantonese and Hakka dishes.
Portions are still huge. They no longer offer a discount if you pay cash but they do offer you a main course. Amazing! Prices are beyond fair and portions are HUGE. Seriously now, you need both hands to carry #19 Guyana Chicken Fried Rice -- ah, that crispy chicken skin is heaven on earth. All dishes are savoury. We managed to control ourselves and take some half-decent photos before we tucked in.
Polite and very efficient service. Ordered take-out and the gentleman who took our call was professional. He told us it would take 15-20 minutes to prepare our order. We drove over and it was ready. They get a lot of take-out orders but work fast to fulfill them.
Thank you, Wok and Fortune Family Restaurant!
November 2024 SUPER DELICIOUS food. We just got take-out (currently no dine-in service):
Guyana Chicken Fried Rice Guyana Chicken Lo Mein Eggplant and garlic sauce Sweet & sour chicken Salty Pepper Fish Filet Salted Pepper Seafood Delighr (Shrimp, Squid & Fish Filet)
Every dish was well seasoned, freshly made and portions were huge. You get 10% off when you pay cash and everything was under $85! (A miracle in 2024 for so much tasty food.)
Service was efficient. We will definitely be back. Right now, going to lie down because we ate so...
Read moreTerrible experience! My father and I went there for lunch. The lady who works at the front was extremely rude to me, as well as; the young brown lad working there. The young man gave us too many hot sauces and she got very upset, reprimanding him in front of us and several other customers. I asked her if she wanted them back and she rudely came to the table to take them. I asked her to please exhort her “employee” in private because she was making me uncomfortable, and the request fell on deaf ears. She got so upset that she fired the young man on the spot and told him to go home. We ordered soup and another dish… the soup was bland and I lost my appetite so I can’t rate the seafood chowmein. Customer service counts for a lot… I will not...
