UPDATE September 2025: While the food remains solid and our server was very friendly and efficient, I'm afraid the dine-in experience at Zante has declined. The dining room has a feel of neglect, with peeling chairs, scuffed walls, and burned out, dusty light fixtures. The kitchen is blocked off from sight with what appears to be sheets of Bristol board taped to the door frame (!!!) and the new front door (which used to never close unless patrons firmly pulled it on exit or entrance) now SLAMS shut - making diners jump at the noise. When our server brought us a bottle of white wine without a chiller or ice bucket, she informed us that the restaurant had no ice buckets - even though several dine-in guests have asked for one. We noticed that Zante does a super brisk takeout business, so perhaps the owners don't feel the need to invest in the dine-in experience. It's a shame. It used to be a lovely neighborhood spot for a dinner out.

PREVIOUS REVIEW We were away from this little gem for too long - but we’re happy to find the food is just as good. Zante Greek Bistro is the restaurant that inflation forgot. Go, spend a reasonable amount (i.e. $10 less per dish than other local restos on the Danforth or Queen East) and enjoy deliciously prepared Greek food. Huge portions too. Our community needs to keep this place going - it’s too...

I would highly recommend Zante Bistro. It was my first time going there on Wednesday May 16,2018. The staff was so welcoming, friendly, helpful and hospitable. The place is ideally located at Woodbine and Gerrard, easy access by TTC, clean, the prices are reasonable, the portion sizes are huge (you won't be disappointed). I thought I would be discriminated against being of the minority but I was treated equally. The owner is also enthusiastic and funny. The waitress was also polite and had meaningful conversations with us. She wasn't just going through the motions so to say of having a job.. She really enjoys what she's doing. By the way, I got a special treat on the house because it was my first time there..

I also was in area again on Friday May 19,2018 with another friend. We stopped by for dinner and my friend had her bicycle but she didn't have her lock for outside. The owner agreed to allow her to put the bicycle in the restaurant, he even came to help her to take the bicycle in and out when we were leaving. She also got the special treat for her first time there..

To the owner and staff of Zante Bistro, thanks for being so welcoming and hospitable. There is not alot of restaurant with such awesome service all round.. .

I WILL DEFINITELY COME AGAIN AND RECOMMEND YOUR RESTAURANT TO...

Not sure whose writing good reviews for this place. Not a picky eater and flexible with my reviews. Thought I need to reflect on this experience for those who want an honest review. I was eager to support this small community restaurant in my neighbourhood. First thing that set me off was that washrooms were unmanaged right at the start of dinner hour, with only a few people in the restaurant. Should be cleaned before dinner starts. We had calamari to start, definitely was not fresh but frozen after asking if they were made fresh. We had chicken souvlaki dinner and Greek salad. The food was mediocre, the salad was not authentic Greek and put together with romaine and too many tomatoes with low quality feta, dressing was bland. Can make a better one at home. I expect to have a great salad when dining at a restaurant. The chicken was ok, tender and too salty, rice was bland (reminded me of Uncle Bens) the best part was the potatoes. Service was also decent and glass of house wine was ok. The only reason I am writing this review is because, Dinner out is not cheap and if I’m spending my money I except to get great quality food, especially in a small bistro. Have been to many Greek restaurants and this one does not compare to some of the great...

I was pleasantly surprised to see that a Greek restaurant opened up in the Upper Beach neighborhood. We definitely could use a new restaurant in this particular location! The moment we walked in, we were greeted by our server, who was very attentive throughout the evening. The space was warm and welcoming. The menu was easy to read and the prices were extremely reasonable! We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. Our entrées were the hamburger and the lamb souvlaki. We couldn't believe how large the portions were and just how tasty everything was! It was immediately apparent that everything was fresh--especially the meat and seafood. After dinner, we had a pleasant conversation with the owner who is one of the nicest people I have ever met. We were even given a tiny basket of chocolate eggs to celebrate Easter. I can't say enough about just how wonderful my experience was at this new neighbourhood gem. I will be going back with friends and family!

Follow @bredgyeats for more food photos! Lamb Shawarma Dinner 7/10 - Comes with tzatziki and greek salad. Tzatziki is a bit less tangy than other places. Greek salad comes with cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, raw red onions, feta, oregano, one black olive and an olive oil dressing. Salad tastes fresh and crisp. Lamb has a good sear/char on it, deep maillard flavour but is cooked to well-done and is quite dry and chewy. Almost all lean meat, which lacks the gamey lamb flavour. Rice isn't seasoned but has a wonderful bouncy and moderately chewy texture that's quite addicting. Potatoes lack any charring and are quite bland, but fork tender.
