Went in Mr Mikes Cochrane for dinner on Sunday around 6:30. I entered into the lounge in which had two tables of two in lounge side. One table seemed to be friends of staff and seemed to get most of the staffs attention . Sit at bar being the only one.I order a Stella Artois Pint, she begins the pour maybe filling the glass maybe half full, kegs empty. Instead of tapping new keg draining and cleaning the line before pouring a nice new bubbly carbonated Stella. Instead I get just a little fresh top up on top of the old flat beer that was the end of last keg. Ok, well I let the serve know the beer is flat just as my food is arriving. And she brings me another Stella which is still sub par not really bubbling or cold enough. Drink Stella on tap in over 1000 locations one of the worst I tasted. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with garden salad for 17.99. Very easy and basic dish cheese chicken peppers onions tortilla. Not enough cheese in quesadillas and chicken looked like brown or dark meat not a fan first time I’ve seen that . Order a lot of easy to make quesadillas before and this one gets 1/5 for sure. Garden salad they just chucked in which tasted like unwashed spring mix, shredded green cabbage huge pieces of carrots slices and tomato diced piled up all high in the middle. Salad tasted dirty and horrible presentation that could of been so simple. I get that all restaurants are short staffed but with no one in your establishment, you should be providing good to great service/ great food with little people that are in there. Like a glass of water when I sit down would of been nice and servers lack of attention/ detail. More worried about friends and laughing at booth. Going out and spending what hard earned money people have at these restaurants in Cochrane and getting just a paling service and food quality will come to end. Spend the time to train your young staff and managers in the importance of individual service and how every customer needs served the best of your abilities even if am one person. I eat a lot out at restaurants but that’s ending cause your not getting what you...
Read moreMr. Mikes is a welcome addition to the Cochrane restaurant scene and has become our go to for a sit down meal. The small town upscale casual atmosphere is a welcome change from something like BPs and the inclusion of both a bar and restaurant side make Mr. Mikes a good choice for families and groups of adults. The restaurant offers a large patio in the warmer months and has two great house beers on tap if you're feeling thirsty. Food is generally delicious and the kitchen staff seem competent enough to make the meals repeatedly good from visit to visit.
Mr. Mikes easily offers the best steak that I have had in Cochrane. They offer various cuts, sizes and toppings. While I generally feel ripped off after splurging on a steak at a chain restaurant, Mr. Mikes is the exception. My go to steak is the 12 oz Rib Eye, which is the most flavorful cut. Mr. Mikes charges about $33 and I have never felt disappointed in my purchase, which is surprising for a chain restaurant. Another great meal choice that I often go for is the BBQ Steak Salad, while my wife really likes the Mac & Cheese.
The only reason Mr. Mikes doesn't get a 5 star rating is that while everything at Mr. Mikes is consistently great, nothing has been over the top outstanding. That isn't a knock on Mr. Mikes at all, consistently great remains highly elusive for most chain restaurants. Give Mr. Mikes Cochrane a try, I have never regretted going there for a meal and everyone that I talk to in town seems to feel the...
Read moreTalk about a let down. Went here last Friday night to celebrate my husband's birthday. This place was great when it first opened and for the last year has continued to go downhill to the point where we will no longer be going to this establishment.
First off it took them 10 to 15 minutes just to seat us 4, when the place barely had anyone there. Then another 10 to 15 minutes to even get drinks ordered. Once we finally did get our food ordered to our table we were not impressed with how small the portions were and the food wasn't even all that warm. When having to say go to Mc Donald's after spending like $20 to $25+ on a meal but still hungry is not right.
We also noticed they have recently changed their menu's from these nice looking booklet menus to very cheap trifolds, which also means the have taken a fair bit off the menu for options.
For a town where there is more and more options on where you choose to eat, you would think Mr. Mike's would want to be uping their service and what they have to offer instead of the very opposite. Also not impressed when you see 6 or more people standing around talking when we haven't even been seated yet and there are not many people in the restaurant. Wonder why that is....
We used to love coming here and did often with friends and family. Really was our go to place. Well not anymore and never again.
If Mr. Mike's keeps this up I can't see them sticking around for much longer. Pretty sad when we would rather go to...
