This was my third visit...and best yet. And now that I have made three positive visits, I will tell you this: this is the best damn Vietnamese restaurant in Cochrane and I will tell you why. First, prices...best prices I have seen out of any of their competitors. Second, portions...HUGE. Nuff said about that. Third, service...the guy behind the counter is very attentive. He is watching to make sure your needs are met. For example, the sun was hitting half the guests at the table in the face. By the time I had reached behind me to pull the blind down...he was there doing it for me. Fourth, details....your eating utensils whether it be chopsticks or fork are waiting for you in a cup of warm water so that you do not have cold utensils touching your food or your mouth. Smart! Fifth and most important...the taste of the food. And this is where they really shine. We started off with the crispy pork belly salad rolls. Best salad rolls I have ever had....bar none. Youngest daughter also had the grilled pork rolls...also excellent. Oldest daughter and her BF had another soup and a vermicelli noodle bowl...bith loved it. My mother and wife both had the beef soup where you pick three types of beef. My wife asked for her broth to be a saté and ot was made that way. Both broths were super tasty and loaded with noodles and beef. I had the Pad Thai...and it was spectacular. I added some of the additional saté paste that we asked for and that took it over the top with flavour.
Overall, six of us ate and were very very satisfied. This place should have a lineup as the food is THAT good. I even took a pic of the Pad Thai...but cannot see where I can attach it to the review. 🤨
Go eat here...these people are...
Read moreI was very excited to try Hong Thai because of its high rating. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. We ordered the Squid And Green Chili as our appetizer. Then I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp, and my son had Seafood Saute Soup. The appetizer came after our mean dishes, and it was very disappointing smelling quite fishy and the squid was not fresh at all. The green chili dip tasted off as well. My Pad Thai with shrimp came with shrimp with the tails on and wasn't fresh either. The noodles had been stir-fried in a big lump in what I think was plum sauce or chili plum sauce with big chunks of bell peppers and big chunks of celery, and that's it. The crushed peanuts and lemon wedge were served on the side. There was pretty good pork balls that they put in my son's soup. Otherwise, it was super spicy, with very few pieces of seafood and lacking in flavour. Our server was kind of strange in that he hid behind the counter on his phone, didn't do a quality check, and was generally random in his behavior. I think that there was a...
Read moreLast week I decided to check this place out. I was greeted by Vin who gave me a menu right away. I ordered the beef sub. While I waited Vin gave me some free tea which was greatly appreciated because it was very cold out.
The beef sub was absolutely out standing! The beef was cooked to perfection and was well seasoned. And I love cilantro!
And today I tried their spring rolls which were quite delicious and the beef sate soup was fantastic too. A polite young woman brought some sriracha sauce out for the soup because I like my noodles spicy. The broth had real flavor and the beef had taste.
Over all both experiences here were exceptional. Vin is a polite, young man, and is genuinely kind. I wish this place all the best!
I will return for some more beef subs. Take-care and thanks for such great service.
And I will not forget your kindness! It is always...
