Upon discovering Aiyaohno Cafe, I was immediately struck by its warm and inviting atmosphere. Tucked away in a charming location near Vancouver's Chinatown, this delightful establishment offers a unique culinary experience that caters to a wide range of dietary preferences. With an eclectic menu, Aiyaohno Cafe is a testament to the passion and dedication that has gone into creating a welcoming space where food lovers can savor each delectable bite.
Of all the dishes I had the pleasure of trying, the Uni Sandwich stood out as the pièce de résistance. Bursting with flavor, this unique and delicious creation features fresh, creamy sea urchin complemented by crisp vegetables and Japanese-style pickled veggies. The house-made, perfectly square brioche bread ties it all together. This dish alone is worth a visit to this charming eatery.
The Sakura Latte, a gentle and uplifting concoction, was another standout. Its cool pink hue and delicate cherry blossom flavor make it an ideal choice for sipping as you catch up with friends or simply enjoy a moment of solitude.
For those seeking a heartier option, the ramen bowl with vegan dumplings is sure to satisfy. The rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and succulent dumplings create a harmonious blend of flavors and textures that will leave you craving more.
In summary, Aiyaohno Cafe is a real hidden gem, offering an array of scrumptious dishes that cater to diverse dietary preferences. The unforgettable Uni Sandwich and exquisite beverages make it a must-visit destination. Read moreCharming cafe with a menu inspired by Japanese countryside cafes. They sell coffee and tea, specializing in matcha, as well as light meals and some baked goods. The food is vegetable-forward and health-conscious with seafood, vegetarian, and vegan options. You can also buy tins of matcha. You need to be buzzed in to enter the building. There's a sign posted at the door with the number to dial. I didn’t have to announce myself or anything, they just let me in when I buzzed. I tried their vegan chick’n caesar sandwich, matcha coconut mochi, and the Koolfest iced sencha with kinome and guava. Really good all around. The sandwich had a slightly different flavour from the typical caesar I was expecting - more mustardy - but was very tasty. It was a little messy because there was so much stuffed into the sandwich. The matcha mochi (like a butter mochi) had a VERY satisfying texture, super soft with a little bit of a crisp surface. The drink was also really good. I really liked the real guava puree. The kinome flavour was unique but subtle. I found the environment here to be unpretentious and comfortable despite the neighbourhood. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the matcha they sell. I am definitely interested in coming back to try something with matcha. Side note: it would be really nice if there were glass cups for cold drinks for dine-in instead of...
Read moreSuper friendly owners, Beverly and Greg. I like that they took the time to get to know us, tell us about their backgrounds and their interesting history in food and beverage. The food was really fresh and delicious. I had the vegan blt sandwich which was filling and had bright and fresh veggies. The bread is made in house without butter and eggs. Really healthy which was a bonus. Lots of vegan, vegetarian and pescetarian options. My friend had the cold ramen which she really enjoyed. The kinako matcha cookie with walnuts was a revelation, deliciously sweet and flavourful without being too sweet. They even gave us free chocolate salted walnut cookie and birdseed cookies, as they were closing and there were leftover cookies. The chelate was so rich and delicious for chocolate lovers, and the salt added a nice counterpoint to the sweetness. Texture, flavour and sweetness levels were perfect. I was pretty stuffed at this point. My friend gave it to her friend. I’m sure it was delicious. I will for sure be back to try their other unique dishes like coconut miso ramen, sushi, and their delicious in-house drinks. It was also pretty quiet when we went on Saturday, and the seating area was nice to chill in. For the quality and care taken to craft the food, this is really reasonable. Can’t...
