Breka Bakery & Cafe - Denman — Restaurant in Vancouver

UPDATE: I received a response from the manager at the Breka Denman location and the matter was resolved immediately. The manager was very helpful and considerate about what happened. Thank you for taking the time to help me, correct the issues and be understanding of the whole situation!

The food is delicious, but if I pay a decent amount for quality baked goods then I expect the employees to pack my food properly. This bakery was on my way home (which is about 40 mins travel), when I got home and noticed the mango coconut donut was missing half of its icing/frosting because the employee put it in sideways against the wall of the box... I haven't tried this donut yet and now I guess I will have to scrap the box to enjoy it... Maybe next time your employees can put the food carefully in separate containers or at least let me know you did that so I can fix it myself...

Update: Part of my food was improperly packed and I had ordered a Blueberry Strudel as a gift for a family member (which is around $10), only to find out that after confirming my order twice (and it was not busy in the store) the employee packed the wrong Strudel! There's only Apple and Blueberry Strudels at this location from what I've seen. How the girl managed to pack the wrong item I have no idea... especially when she read back my order to me at the register before I left... and the strudels are clearly marked in the glass window display...

About $40 spent for mistakes and messed up baked goods. I don't know if it's just the Denman location, but the professional service could use some...

This is such a cute stop for a snack or breakfast I wish we had more time in Vancouver to try their delicious looking array of cakes! Breka, was our stop to perk ourselves up after getting massages and that strawberry shortcake that the hubby and I split was definitely one of the best that I've had in a while. I hate cakes and pastries that are heavy and this one was light, fluffy and oh so good I could have another right now. I think the only downside to these pastries are that they are so light, you'd be temped to have more. The shortcake reminded me of one of those Chinese cakes that are fluffy and airy . I also grabbed an apple tart bar for a snack later that day which was also tasty and it held up pretty nicely in our hotel mini fridge.

The girls working the counter moved that line quickly, it got packed suddenly so there wasn't that bad of a wait to order and get our grub. Pricing here isn't outrageous like some other places can be. All of their delicious cakes were prices around $5 which is a pretty good deal and the seating area makes you want to lounge around for a while and eat more. Just like a lot of places and restaurants in this area, I have no idea of where you would park, it seems like street parking is you're best option, but if you don't have patience for that walk. It looks like everyone visiting and that lives in this neighborhood does that.

We had breakfast at Breka Bakery & Café and it honestly went far beyond our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and everything looked fresh and inviting. We ordered the Steak & Cheese Panini and the Balsamic Caprese Panini, and both were absolutely delicious—perfectly prepared, flavorful, and very filling. Alongside that, we had fresh orange juice, which made the breakfast feel even more refreshing and complete.

What really stood out to us, beyond the taste of the food, was the overall experience. The staff were patient, polite, and always smiling, which made us feel comfortable right away. The service was quick and well-organized, so we didn’t have to wait long for our food even though the place was busy. The portions were generous, and considering the quality, the prices were very reasonable.

This combination of excellent food, friendly staff, fair prices, and quick service made it a really satisfying and memorable breakfast. It’s not easy to find places that deliver on all of these at once, but Breka Bakery & Café definitely did. We left feeling full, happy, and impressed.
