Today, I finally got to visit a restaurant I’ve had my eyes on for ages — Skewers Souvlaki Pita Bar. With an impressive 4.8-star rating on Google, it’s definitely a hidden gem in Vancouver’s Gastown neighborhood for authentic Greek cuisine.
Though the restaurant is small in size, it’s tastefully decorated and has a cozy, refined vibe. When we arrived, there was already a line outside. Unfortunately, the weather was too windy and cold to sit on the patio, so we ended up waiting over 20 minutes just to get a shared table inside.
But let me tell you — it was absolutely worth the wait.

Main Recommendation: Mix Grill Platter
We ordered their most popular signature dish — the Mix Grill Platter, and it totally lived up to the hype. For the price, it offers amazing value and comes loaded with: • One Chicken Souvlaki skewer • One Lamb Souvlaki skewer • A serving of Grilled Pork • Hand-cut fries • Warm, soft pita bread • Two portions of Greek salad • And their signature sauce — the Tzatziki (Greek yogurt cucumber dip)
Every bite of the meat was juicy and flavorful with that perfect charcoal-grilled aroma. The Tzatziki sauce was the true star — creamy, tangy, and delicious with everything from meat to fries.
This platter was more than enough for two people to feel full and satisfied!

Greek Beer Pairing
We also tried two classic Greek beers to go with the meal: • Mythos – Full-bodied and aromatic with strong malty notes. Easily our favorite of the night. • Fix Hellas – Lighter and crisper, with a more subtle malt character.
If you like a bolder beer with a richer flavor, Mythos is highly recommended!

Dessert Time – Because Adults Don’t Make Choices
After all that meat, we originally planned to share just one dessert (out of guilt, of course). But as someone wisely said, “Adults don’t make choices — we get both.”
So yes, we ordered both: • Crème Karamelle – A silky vanilla custard topped with luscious caramel sauce. Smooth, light, and not overly sweet. • Profiterole – Cream-filled pastry puffs drenched in rich chocolate sauce. A classic indulgence.
Both were amazing, but our favorite was definitely the Crème Karamelle. Absolutely delicious!

Final Thoughts
At just $39 for the platter, it’s an unbeatable deal. The portions are generous, the flavors authentic, and the experience unforgettable.
Skewers Souvlaki Pita Bar may be tucked away in a small corner of Gastown, but after one visit, I promise you’ll be just like me — already thinking about when to come back...

🍟 I came in during Happy Hour and ordered the Pork Gyro Platter for one ($18). The portion is so large, I really tried my best to finish half of it and the leftover will feed me a whole other meal. What I love most about the platter is the complete composition of meat, carbs and greens. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crispy, and the pita bread (6 pieces) is nicely toasted. While lamb and chicken are served on skewers, the pork is sliced directly off the rotating vertical spit, and served like pulled pork. Seasoned just right and it was not dry at all. And oh boy, the tzatziki was heavenly! No wonder they charge extra for it! FRIES + TZATZIKI = 💯
🌞 The servers were very kind and attentive. They also brought out dessert (profiteroles and whipped cream) at the end of my meal, which I appreciated. I’ve seen recommendation of the Mixed Platter if you’re coming in larger groups, and given my experience with their quality, I doubt it will not disappoint you.
🪑 The food came out pretty fast, considering they are not too busy. I read previous reviews about the possible long line around dinnertime, so it is advisable to shoot for lunch time or order take out if you don’t want to wait. Another reason for take-out would be avoiding the grilled meat smell catching on to you. I swear all my clothes, bag, hair were completely covered with the smoke and smell for the whole day I felt embarrassed 🫣 They do have some outdoor seating but as a solo diner that was not an option for me. The tables are limited inside as well so that would explain for the wait during peak hours.
Overall, this spot lives up to its name and deserves all the praise! This place goes on the list of places I’ll take any of my visiting friend to. It’s only less than 10 minutes walk from Waterfront station and is a perfect spot to stop by for a take-out if you’re spending the...

Sit yourself at the bar and watch as the talented chef, Niko, prepares your food with the utmost care. Iro will take care of you like family in the meantime. The food takes time but it more than shows in the end result.
The mixed grill platter ($26) may look big in photos but is even more humongous in person (the two of us couldn't finish it). It contains:
Don't miss out on the dessert - the crem karamelle ($5) is a housemade vanilla custard with caramel sauce. Different from other jiggly custards, it has the most decadently rich and creamy texture. It's the perfect note to end a truly amazing meal.
I can't think of any other place that serves this kind of delicious high-quality food at these ridiculously affordable prices, especially in downtown. A must-visit, I promise you'll have an...
