Vancouver has had a bit of a dry run in terms of comfortable, positive, and engaging community spaces (especially sports related). Thankfully, that drought has come near an end with the lively addition of Courtside to the Mt. Pleasant neighbourhood. The past few months have been a whirlwind for me; discovering Courtside has been a real hoop dream come true. I watched a game here during the series between the Lakers and Golden State this year. The place filled up quickly, and by the time the game was going hard, the energy in the room was electric. It reminded me of the atmosphere you have at an actual sports game where you’re in the stands with hundreds of fans, displaying their teams colours with pride; cheering, yelling, crying together, as one beautiful community embracing the game of Basketball. Courtside absolutely captures that atmosphere and brings it to the city.

Went here tonight with a couple of friends and had an amazing time. The selection of beers were great (need to try the plum sour). Ordered a bunch of food and shared but we couldn't fault anything, everything tasted amazing. The best part of our experience apart from our server was, the Head Chef Victor came over to check on our food followed by the General Manager Sean. Really great touch to our night. It was that good we ended up buying some hoodies from the merc section of the restaurant. For sure will be back with friends. Thank you Courtside!!!! 🍻🏀🏀

We chose Courtside to hold a surprise birthday party for my hubby’s 60th birthday. We were able to execute it in a matter of 2+ weeks, with the guidance of Ally and the rest of the Courtside team. The evening was flawless, ran smoothly, with food always being replenished and the drinks were poured and served throughout the night. Our family and friends are still talking about the wonderful and unique experience as they came to celebrate this milestone birthday with us. Thank you, thank you, thank you , once again for a very memorable evening 🥳❤️🏀

Our experience here made it nearly impossible to enjoy our night. I made a reservation for 18 people well in advance. Making the reservation alone was upsetting. Regardless, myself and my party stayed patient, kind, and understanding as they explained they're new to reservations. Several guests arrived on time and some were late. I gave the restaurant a heads up about this. They never mentioned anything about us losing our reservation if we weren't all there at the same time. We came to realize that this wasn't the issue anyways because when several guests tried to check in on time, we were told that they recognized the name the reservation was under but they couldn't find it in their system. Everyone waited outside in the rain for 30-40 minutes. Some of us had to wait outside for an hour. Yet still, none of us complained to the employees. We accepted the situation and waited kindly and patiently. We were told everyone would get a free shot of tequila to compensate but later on, they told us not everyone could get a free shot since some of the guests didn't order a drink. We weren't told that everyone had to order a drink to get a free shot. Plus, more than half of us ordered several alcoholic beverages, but we let it go since none of us wanted to argue or make it difficult for the servers/staff. The bill got messed up as well. Some of us had to pay for drinks and food that weren't ours since the servers couldn't figure it out. We would have gladly worked with them to organize the bill, but they said this is your bill and you have to pay it even if it's not correct. We were told that this is what tends to happen when groups are big. I found that insulting, inappropriate, and invalid. But we all kept our mouths shut to remain civil. We just wanted to get out of there asap. Please do better to organize your reservation and billing system. Please don't promise accommodation to larger groups if your venue/staff cannot handle it. Please don't make people pay for food/drinks that aren't theirs. Work with your guests to organize their...

Unprofessional service, aggressive owner.

Last Friday, we decided to go out and enjoy the NBA playoff and one of my friends booked a table at Courtside.

I personally found the place a bit narrow, the TV was small for a sport bar, nevertheless.

We enjoyed our time until one waitress came to us explaining we exceeded the time of our reservation, I saw the text message about the reservation and we did not see any specification on a time limit. I'm not sure if Courtside has receipts of the text message where they mentioned that we have a time limit. It would be nice to see it.

We were still drinking. The waitresses tonality was just rude.

I saw a previous answer by Courtside which actually shows how unprofessional they are:

" Your group even invited a 6th member to join taking up an extra seats without permission. "

We were sitting on 3 pairs squares table so no we did not have 5 seats but 6 obviously since it's a pair setting. And actually the group of people, on the table on our side welcomed a late extra customer, when he come he asked us if he can borrow our chair we told him our friend will come but until then he could take it ( by the way this group actually were too many since he have to sit on the side ) anyway when our friend come they nicely gave our chair back. So for you to say we "steal a chair without permission" shows how incompetent's your are. You do not accuse your customer(s) like that especially when you are wrong.

To be honest, I think the issue was not about us exceeding our time limit, that we were not aware of. But the rudeness of the staff and the owner who claim he can stand up and raised his voice to customers if he wants.

The waitress had a very hard time to listen and communicate and the owner was aggressive. This is unacceptable! No one comes to a bar to feel oppressed, or unsafe, especially because of the staff.

I want to say that the two others waitress were very nice.

Overall this was a terrible experience and if I may give you some advise, improve your listening and...

Came to Courtside on Main as it was advertised as a basketball themed bar and was interested in watching on of the games there. Upon entering the aesthetic and decor of the bar is great! It gives a trendy, youthful vibe ! Once you walk in it is a bit confusing on as to where to wait for your host since there is no one at the front and its just overwhelmingly busy with people also close to the front. The bar is smaller than it looks in photos and of course quite busy when I went since it is still newly opened. They only have tv's on one side of the wall which mainly serve those sitting at the bar or the tables placed behind the bar area. They also have a big scoreboard hanging in the middle that is also a tv but again only serves those sitting on that side. We let the host know we wanted to watch the game but the only available seats were by the window and he said he would move us once a bar seat became available, unfortunately others were offered those spots. Barely watched the game cause it was annoying having to turn my neck and body just to watch the game and even when I did the decor was covering the score on the tv. The service was ok not great expected better since they're new . The menu is simple bar food nothing special, what caught my eye was a hot dog priced at 15$ but I guess that goes with the whole sports theme. We ordered the nachos, the ground beef and guacamole were really good BUT the other pickled toppings and the tomato salsa were not very good at all in my opinion. For 22$ it was a good quantity just lacked flavour. (Ground beef and guac 8$ each extra add on)Would I return? Not anytime soon but Maybe in the future once they are a bit more settled in since theyre...
