The WORST brunch in Vancouver by far!! The staff was trying hard which I appreciate but I first ordered the belgian waffle with a fruit compote, and what I received were bright yellow, gritty textured sour “waffles” that left a taste in my mouth like when you bake with too much baking soda, just awful. They also came with about 5-10 blueberries and no syrup. I had to send them back and I got a basic eggs benny, just a poached egg with hollandaise on an english muffin, and I requested cheddar cheese. The cheese was undetectable and overall still disappointing. The cherry on top was the potatoes. I had asked what the breakfast potatoes are like, there’s a lot of different ways of making them, but when the server said they were crispy I said that’s great, and they asked if I wanted them extra crispy and I said no, but they came out black and charred. I barely ate anything and I was left feeling gross and my friend felt the same about their turkey sandwich. Will not be going again. It was very clear to the server that the meals were not satisfactory, their response was that they're trying new recipes and that waffles are not their specialty. So then don't have them on the menu. There are no excuses for this food and charging what you charge. There are other reviews that are similar so instead of justifying low quality food, change your standards or at least Google some recipes.

I came here for a friend's birthday get-together and we had a nice night. It's a neat building and cozy, the vibe (at least at night) is more tavern than diner. We had a very enthusiastic waitress who really brightened the place up! The dinner menu has a varied selection of comfort food. I had the Wasabi Pea Encrusted Salmon with a Ginger Strawberry Kombucha to drink. The wasabi pea salmon is a cool concept and I thought it was very tasty! Prepare for crunch if you order this. The side rice and corn were well-seasoned too, not just afterthoughts to the salmon. The kombucha was sweeter than expected, but the flavour was great. It's very cool that they make their own! I had a Lemon Meringue Parfait for dessert, which was like a deconstructed lemon meringue pie. For some reason I really liked the vanilla wafers they used. It's completely possible they were just generic commercially-produced wafers but they tasted fresh! The value is okay for a meal downtown. Although it's not the cheapest, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of food for a place that calls itself "diner and bar". It was better and more inspired than a lot of pub food I've had!

Came in with some colleagues for a quick bite after work. Happy hour was on so I decided to grab some of the wings as per the waiter's recommendation. Asked him what the portion sizes would be and he said it should be about 8-10 wings/drumsticks. Having been to Wings and other pubs, I assumed the wings would be standard sized and juicy. I was quite mistaken. CAD10 for 6-8 tiny chicken wings as per the photos I took. The plate was small, but the wings, a lot smaller. Food: Wings. Dry, tough, not juicy, but the sauce was good. Wanted to get the burger but after looking at the wing portions, decided against it as there will probably be better burgers around. Price: CAD 10, happy hour prices. Definitely on the high side. Service: Great. The place was slightly busy with one or two wait staff around, and the bartender came to grab our orders. Great guy. Would I recommend? If you have deep pockets, sure. Its a nice location, ample seating, service was good. Food was a let-down however.

Rude staff. Owner needs to fire the bar manager who is unprofessional and cannot control his temper. We had dinner and moved on to the basement for games and a friend reached over to grand a glass for beer as the bar tender was not providing effective and efficient service. My friend who is used to the friendly bar culture of Germany waited 15 min to get 2x pitcher and they didn't give him any glasses after he tried to grab glasses he was given a notice not to go behind the min bar which had no drinks on it... after the staff realized that they didn't give him cups he gave him a few cups but a few were stuck together. My friend couldn't untangle the cups! Which bar provides 2 cups inside each other to a customer!!! I have never seen one... as a result of low service and attention my friend reached over to grab an extra glass cup. Instead of providing a better service they asked him to leave in an unprofessional manner because he reached over to grab a glass cup. Manager came and started yelling asking my friend to leave immediately. We spent a lot on food and drinks and had to leave without finishing our drinks as they asked my friend to leave. We can sue this restaurant for runing our bachelor party and forcing us to pay and making our night unforgettable. They didn't even let us finish our drinks and asked us to pay up and leave. Manager yelled saying he doesn't care. I felt something seamed strange. Why did they delay service to my friend and not give him cups on time and give him cups that are stuck together. It's the servers job to provide service and untangle cups. Owner said cups were available at the bar but those cups were plastic. We wanted to drink our beer in a glass cup just like other guests. This felt a bit of discrimination. In the court we can win claiming for damages. They charged us for our drinks and we left our drinks right before kicking us out. I told the manager that he is going overboard and he said I don't care. I even said that we can leave but he will receive bad reviews... He said he doesn't care, do whatever you wish. If you are the owner reading this, you need to take action and fire this manager unless you are desperate. We live in a multicultural city and the behaviour of your staff is not aligned with the culture of this city. I will remove this review if the manager is fired. He doesn't deserve to be...

UPDATE We returned for dinner after restaurant management reaching out. We were there last night prior to heading to Coldplay, so a busy night. The service was a huge improvement from our previous visit, and it seems that they take recommendations and comments and work to make improvements as needed.

Service was prompt and attentive. Our food was served in an efficient time frame, and our hot food arrived hot. The onion rings we ordered as an appy were great, although we didn't love the dipping sauce, but they didn't even need it. I ordered the Vancity salmon burger, which was tasty, and the salmon was cooked to order. My sister ordered the greek pizza, which she enjoyed, and she really liked the crust. For dessert, we shared a lemon meringue parfait for dessert, which was fantastic and we both loved it. Overall, this experience was a huge improvement from our previous visit, and we will happily return for a place to eat before shows and events!

We had reservations for dinner for 4, and when I booked my reservation, it was for the Oasis patio. When we got there, we were seated inside in a booth. When I asked the hostess about this, she went to check with one of her coworkers, and came back and told us that there were only tables for 2 on the patio. I should not have been able to make a reservation that was not able to be accomodated.

After being seated, it took a bit more time than I would expect before our drink and food orders were taken, but it was busy in there, so not terribly unexpected. Where the service started to be subpar, was the fact that it was about 45 minutes after our drinks were served before we saw our server again, and it took over an hour to get all of our food. One of the people at our table was served their meal 10 minutes before the rest of us, which is not great dining as a group. The food was ok, not terrible, but not great for the price that you pay. My burger was dry, and the amount of cheese on there was barely even noticeable...a small sprinkle of shredded cheese. Everyone else at the table also thought the food was not as good as they would have hoped, but again, just ok.

I was really hopeful that this would have been a better experience, and that I would have a new go to before a game or a show, but sadly the experience was very disappointing. We won't...

Saturday night my friend and I were attending the Queen Elizabeth for a theatre production and made a reservation to eat at Fable. We arrived with enough time to order, relax, eat and make the 5 minutes walk to the venue. We placed our order around 6:35. We had drinks promptly arrive and enjoyed catching up while waiting for our food.

At 7 pm we inquired on the status of our order explaining we had to be at the theatre for 7:40 and were informed the order had just gone in and should be up shortly.

At 7:15 we inquired again. Our server was sweet and clearly feeling the stress.

At 7:30 a new person (manager?) appeared at the table with a plate of nachos and dip saying they understood we had been waiting a long time. I explained that we needed to be somewhere in 10 minutes, and expressed that I didn't know why we had now waited an hour for our dinner and that I didn't know what we were going to do!

I was told that there was a very large party of about 16 people and our order was stuck behind theirs. Just as that was said our server came to the table with our food. Unfortunately, we now did not have time to eat it. So we took a few fast bites to get something in our body while they brought us to-go boxes and we asked for the bill.

The (presumed) manager approached our server with a bill telling us they had comped our entrées and only charged for the drinks.

This was absolutely the correct step for Fable to take as we literally had no time to eat. It was evident we had not had a relaxing experience.

Back at home late that night the food was tasty, and I would be willing to give this establishment a second chance.

We appreciated proper attitudes from the staff through all of this experience. No complaints at all there. However, in a time when employee shortages are an issue and stress abounds everwhere, may I suggest proactive communication with the customer to help alleviate extra frustration and stress.

I see in the reviews that another customer had an almost identical experience to us a few months ago and they were only provided a small discount on their bill. I am grateful we had a better outcome in our...
