Indian Burger Joint — Restaurant in Vancouver

For a fast food joint this place wasn’t that fast. Many of the items listed on the menu were not available. As a vegan I did my due diligence of trying to inquire about the menu before hand but I didn’t get a response, still we thought to give it a shot. The menu is too vast for the space allocated for front of house considering how extensive the menu is. We ordered the rajma burger and aloo tikki burger. Both were pretty good but presented poorly and served with the bottom crumbs of some left over barbecue potato chips haphazardly tossed into a tray. Fries would have been a great addition but were absent from the menu. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the joint is open 24/7 and decided to give the place a second chance to try some other menu items later that day. Front of house staff was helpful but still quite green for a good service type job. Again most items were out. We tried the pav bhaji hot dog, Bombay sandwich and pani puri. Again the food was alright. Presentation was again lacking in additionally the food was place without any paper in the serving trays with mystery sauces on the trays which was unclear if it was someone’s leftovers or went with our dish. Regardless I would probably visit this place again but the place needs to work out their menu and also their general cleanliness. I’m all about supporting desi businesses so I hope they take this as constructive criticism and work bettering this location as it could quickly become a must visit...

TL; DR It used to be great. It’s disappointing now.

The actual burgers are still good (not great). Have ordered the paneer makhani, vada pav and a couple others on multiple occasions now. The falooda is a whole different story. Ever since my original review, I have raved about this place, their burgers and the falooda to anyone and everyone. But EVERY time I went for another serving of the falooda, it was out. The owner/manager at one point took my number assuring me he’ll call as soon as they get the ingredients and I’m still waiting g for that call, probably a year later. Another instance, I called and confirmed they had the ingredients, showed up 15 mins later, all excited and guess what, they did not. So after multiple disappointments and swearing off the place, I figured what the hell, and popped in one day. They had it. And it sucked. So I’m done. The food isn’t bad, but it’s just not worth it, to me.

My original review: 5⭐️ everything If you want great tasting Indian street food, this is the place. As someone from Bombay, it’s hard to get the kind of flavours we’re used to back home and you come to love with the fact that nothing will really match that. If anything comes close, it’s here. The spicy aloo tiki burger is a no brainer. And the falooda is SO good!

Bonus. It’s in the heart of downtown.

I ordered twice from Indian Burger Joint. The first time I ordered I admit, it was 15 min before closing time, so my order got cancelled 10 min after placement. Unfortunate, but at least there was no hassle with refunds since the bill simply got set to 0$.

The second time I ordered however I have been very disappointed with the customer service. I made sure to place my order 4h before closing this time thinking nothing can go wrong right? I went for the „Ultimate Paneer Makhni Burger”. 5 min later I receive a phone call saying that they are out of sauce and if I would like to change the order into any other paneer burger. The lady started saying some burger names from the menu in such a fast, annoyed and not understandable manner, giving me no time to process my own thoughts. It Literally made me feel overwhelmed so I asked for the „Peri Peri Paneer” since I remembered it from the first time I placed an order. Without any confirmation she just closed the call.

Now, what I received is…. I honestly don’t know. It is neither the Makhni nor the Peri Peri. If anyone can recognize it from the photo I would appreciate letting me know what I ate. 😅

It is sad because the paneer patty itself wasn’t bad at all but I did not receive what I wanted, and for what it was (a fast food burger) it was quite pricey.

Therefore I would NOT order it again, unless it’s past midnight and there are no better...
