I went to have breakfast with my friend on a Sunday once the place opens. For our surprise, after 10 min the place was completely crowded and no sit available besides the bar. We waited for over 15 min and then there was a table available for us. What I had was huevos rancheros that came with a side of baked potatoes, pico de Gallo and sour cream. The "burrito" was a tortilla with scrambled eggs and black beans and I also ordered an extra side of sausages. I can say this meal was good but not outstanding because I was kind of expecting corn tortillas with my eggs but they gave me a flour one. The taste was good in general tho. And for a drink I had a chocolate hazelnut milkshake that they add some whipped cream on top. This was really creamy and delicious. The food was good in general and average price. We had such a good time because my friend and me felt a very comfortable environment and hanging out for a bit in the place. So I recommend this restaurant if you want to spend time with someone you haven't seen for a long time or just to go and enjoy a nice morning, dinner with your friends. I wouldn't say this is a place for a family because would be too small and you can not stay long time...
Read moreSaw this place when looking for restaurants that AREN'T seafood/sushi (which there are A LOT of). Looked pretty cool and retro looking. The menu also looked decent so decided to try it out. It's not a big place but that's fine. I was lucky to pick it each time when it wasn't to busy.
The milkshakes were pretty good especially the different flavors (the pineapple orange one I had on my last visit was pretty good). The breakfast food was pretty good too. Only thing I didn't like to much was their choice of hash browns which is basically small potato wedges with thine (I think?) on it. Kinda tasted a bit weird at first then I just couldn't really enjoy them much. Regular hash browns would be easier to make I would think.
Came back at least twice since the food was pretty good. Only had the breakfast items which were filling.
I recommend this place if you want some simple style dishes that also look pretty good too and the atmosphere.
One other thing to add is the fact I accidentally forgot my keys when trying to get change for a tip but luckily I remember possibly leaving them there and was able to come back and pick them up later so they were...
Read moreOld fashion style diner located on Granville Street.
Gets busy during lunch time since they close up at 3:00pm, mainly catering to the neighborhood crowd.
Portable old fashion jukeboxes on each table, too bad none are functioning, only for show, could have used a little Elvis Presley during my meal.
Service staff so complimented the diner atmosphere, smiley, friendly, hustling used plates off the tables and eagerly waiting for their returning daily familiar customers.
Ordered the classic benny and huevos rancheros.
Hollandaise sauce on the benny was excellent with a slight lemon tanginess. Eggs runny, smoked ham on a crispy muffin. Heaven's perfect breakfast creation.
Huevos rancheros could use improvement. Scrambled eggs with green pepper and onions could have used some additional seasoning. Black beans didn't seem fresh but then again I'm not a black bean expert, rosemary potatoes were crispy with a moist center.
The retro vibe was 5 star, I was expecting retro .25 drinks and $5 breakfasts but alas inflation is an unstoppable monster in our...
