If I could rate this place a zero, I would. Our family decided to go there after the Halloween Parade on Sunday October 15, 2017 to top our bellies up and to get the kids fed. There was 8 of us in total who comfortably took up two tables on their patio, which we were grateful for as we did not want to sit inside on such a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Our server came to our "adult" table first. She was a very unwelcoming person with no smile, the look of annoyance on her face and the absolute worst customer service attitude I have ever encountered (I have been a server myself for over a decade). We ordered a round of water, some lemon wedges and two of the kids ordered pop. As the menu is small and affordable, we decided we would get a couple finger appies to hold us over as myself, my boyfriend and his two kids had almost literally just eaten. We ordered three orders of chicken wings. Our server notified us (with disgust) that they were out of chicken wings. It was noon. They literally opened an hour previous and the restaurant was dead (as the restaurant is located at the end of the parade route). How in the name does an "apparently" busy restaurant on one of the most busiest streets in downtown Vancouver have no chicken wings one hour after opening?!?!? We continue with ordering something else. She left our table with our orders and we were all clearly questioning what was up with her. We then ended up waiting for 25 minutes for our water to arrive at the table. Our server brought over one jug and four glasses to our table to then only leave three out of the four glasses?!?!!? She slipped the fourth glass under her arm and walked away (we clearly didn't want that particular glass after we watched her shove it almost directly into her arm pit). What the hell! So now the one person who has also waited 25 minutes for water has to sit there and watch the other three finally get to satisfy their parched mouths but they can't? Not to mention that each of us only ended up with not even half a glass of water out of this very unpractical "jug" they served it in. Practicality is more beneficial then "trendiness", I do not think this place knows that. My boyfriend goes inside the pub at that point to get an additional glass. He was then told by this not-all-there server that "she would bring it to the table". After waiting that long for the water itself, we didn't know how long it was going to take her to bring the glass so he refused and demanded that she give him the glass. After a couple back and forths, she finally gave in and gave him the glass. Not to mention that we never received the lemon wedges we asked for either. By the time he got back to the table with the extra glass, our food started coming out. First and foremost rule of running a restaurant, the water should have come out immediately and you do not bring everything including the drinks all at once. We were not impressed at this point. Then almost immediately the manager comes to our table, states that he does not allow his staff to be treated that way and asked us to finish our food and leave. Listen bud, your waitress needs to learn how to greet and communicate with your PAYING CUSTOMERS.. she should have brought out at least the waters right away, not half an hour later AND the last time I checked......the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT (we all now that is not true but it a moto that they all stand by). We were not asked what happened or our side of the story. We were not apologized to for how the service was. As the rest of the food came out, we called the bus boy over and asked him to bring the manager back out. We then told the manager after all of the food was brought out, we were leaving and that he could take his food back.
I have NEVER been treated to rudely in my entire life by a restaurant. This place was rude, ungrateful and a massive turn off right from the scowl on the waitresses face. Needless to say, we have told a few of our friends about our experience now....not one of us will ever go back/go there period. They are now already...
Read moreMeh. Not terrible but not good either. I won't ever go back. I had been to El furniture warehouse in Whistler and loved it. I've gone back many times. I guess I was expecting this to be the same.
This place was a rundown dive. The seats were all torn up and the table was sticky. We almost walked by the place it was so tiny. Just a couple of tables. There were flies everywhere and the bathrooms were gross.
The waitress wasn't particularly friendly. Just asked what we wanted. No conversation. No smiles. She didn't come back to ask us how the food was or if we needed anything else.
The prices are amazing. That's the only thing that made it worth it. The stacked nachos were small but tasty. They use cilantro which is a bold move as many people can't stand it. Luckily I enjoy it.
The mac and cheese was a full of onions. I don't mean the green onions on top. I'm talking about the 1/4 cup of diced onions mixed in with the noodles. If it stated on the menu they were in there I would have asked for them to leave it out. But they don't tell you on the menu. The cheese sauce tasted a bit off as others have mentioned. It came with bread that was toasted on the outside and ice cold on the inside. I think it was frozen.
My husband seemed happy with his chicken wrap and pineapple spritz. They were out of ingredients for the mojito. I had the virgin cherry coke. They add lime and cherry syrup to Coke. It was the most sickeningly sweet thing I've ever tasted. I couldn't finish it and I'm a sugar holic soda addict. It was just too artificial and thick.
The portion size was decent for the price. The bar was busy and loud. It was full by the time we left. We were the only people sitting at a table. We overheard the bartender asking people sitting at the bar how they liked their food. My husband wondered why our waitress hadn't asked us that question considering we were her only customer the whole time.
When I walked to the bathroom there were two sheets of what looked like crispy onions drying in the hallway where anyone walking by could cough or sneeze on them. There was also a swarm of flies on them. The kitchen looked painfully small and the bathroom...
Read moreOur experience here yesterday afternoon at around 2:15 was absolutely horrible! It lasted a total of 2 minutes before we got out of there! My friend got there about 5 minutes before us. She got a table for the 4 of us. She was seated at a dirty table with other people's plates and glasses. Not a huge deal but she had to wave someone over a couple of times before anyone came over to give her the basics like a menu maybe some water. When we got there I saw my friend and walked over to the table. Unfortunately my bf was not able to fit into the table. It was pretty short and he's a tall guy over 6'3". Right BESIDE US was an empty booth with some plates on it. We decided to move a step over so he could fit. Our server came over, she was short with dark hair and tats and she began to tell us how we needed to wait to be seated and that we couldn't just come in and seat ourselves. We tried to explain that my friend was already inside and before I could say anything else she cut us off and told us how we can't just switch table whenever we wanted and that it gets confusing if people did that. I understand if we moved from one side of the restaurant to another and ordered food and then we moved. But we didn't and no order was in and we moved steps away. I don't know where this person gets her entitlement from but it is completly disrespectful. She was unbelievably rude to us. My friend and myself are both servers. We understand how things work and we never make anything more complicated then it needs to be since we've both been there. Needless to say we got up right after she left all in shock at her behaviour towards us. We ended up at the moose on the corner there. For just a buck more I would recommend going there if you're looking...
