i love this place and have nothing discerningly bad to say about it. service from the career servers is always quick and friendly. booths are comfy. cleanliness overall is well maintained. the food is exactly as ordered (despite any customization or substitution you can think of) and tastes great every time. go for the all day breakfast combo which beats any other hk style cafe in chinatown and western brunch or breakkie place around. egg white only does not cost extra. the pan fried spam comes thickly sliced unlike other cafes in chinatown or richmond spots may have longer queues and fan fare. those peeps just have not tried maxim's here yet. price, value, deliciousness, service are unmatched. one thing to be aware of is the restaurant is on the second floor and the steps can be quite steep if your group includes say a grams or a gramps who would definitely enjoy having memories brought back of old school cafes. it will be a devastating day when maxim's and like places are gone from chinatown. here's hoping that this will not happen ....at least not any time soon. September 2022: still open, still unmatched, still maximum!

Ive been coming here for years and took a Hiatus for a while. Coming back here to eat is so familiar. The staff is still the same from years ago!!! A very nostalgic feeling. Breakfast A+B with a drink of choice has always been my go to. And on this visit it was no different. My HK style coffee was super smooth (just the way i like it) and the lemon tea was flavourful. I like that unlike other HK style places they actually use more than 2 pieces of sliced lemon. On this particular day they had brisket and round rice noodles for the ‘B’ option. I wish i substituted it for the flat rice noodles but it was ok non the less. The omelet was good packed with filling. I like eating it with my multigrain bun. I like how Asian omelettes have green peas. I have had better. But for the price and memories i will not mind coming back again.

Bakery downstairs, and Hong Kong style cafe upstairs. This is the epitome of Asian comfort food. Think of this, a steamy plate of beef fried flat rice noodles, a warm, crispy meets soft pineapple buns with butter. Vegan? No. Healthy? Probably not, but this is hong kong style comfort food people! Prices have remained about the same for the last 15 years. Low prices, good food, what else can you ask for? The food here is so good that cannot be put into words. Ever walk into a restaurant and be able to smell fresh baked bread and pastries from your seat? Well this place you can. If you are anywhere near this area, you must try this place. They have been around for over 20 years. If you don't end up dining in, you must buy their freshly baked buns and take them home.

Maxim's nowadays has overpriced way too much , a tiny piece of cake can have a price of 4-5 dollars , just because their location is in a Chinese mall and the only bakery in there , they try to rip off every customer in there , but then those customers do not mind at all because they have lots of money , the problem between poor and rich , for about 23-25 dollars we could buy a whole cake somewhere else enough to feed ten people , why waste so much money here ? This review only meant for Maxim at Arberdeen Centre in Richmond . They have another branch in Chinatown Vancouver on East Pender Street where all items in there are so reasonably priced , same kind of baked goods like the one in Arberdeen Centre , the store itself is slightly bigger , very clean and the sales people are very nice also , I myself often shop in there whenever I'm in that area , try it out , you'll be pleased with their savoury and...

Closes at 7pm. Get there at 6:25pm but we were greeted by the server and she was already trying to persuade us not to stay as it looked like she was already cleaned up. We said we will be quick. Gave us the daily special menu, we ordered within a few minutes. Food came fairly quickly but noticed one of the dishes was not what we ordered. Turned out that she gave us tomorrow's daily special menu! The server didn't seem bothered by it at all or offered any compensation. We decided to cancel our other order as well as that one would have been incorrect. We were supposed to get free milk tea with the daily specials. She ended charging us one of the drinks because we cancelled the other order.. the food that did come was pretty bland but good portions. The server wasn't very friendly after we asked her to take off the tea charge on her mistake. Don't think I'll be coming back...
