My first time visiting Vancouver in 2016, I found Momo Sushi by accident. I was parked near Cobs Bread and noticed so many customers picking up orders that I decided to try it on whim. This impulsivity is rare for me because I usually research restaurants before going. I’m so glad I decided to take a chance that day. I stayed in Vancouver for about a week and we went back almost everyday. The portions are generous, the price is super reasonable and the sushi tasted awesome. Every time I visited Vancouver, I would make sure to come back to Momo Sushi. The last time I was a visitor in Vancouver, the owner recognized us and treated us to off the menu dishes. They were so delicious and should’ve been part of the normal menu. I tried ordering some of the off the menu dishes but the waitress said the chef had made it just for us last time.
After moving to Vancouver there are so many other options for sushi but I find myself going back to Momo. You can’t beat the price and quality. I always get an order of their salmon sashimi and a bunch of rolls. I love how they actually care about the quality of the food; the rice is never overwhelming and the filling is plenty. If you dine in, soup, salad and tea is served to you too. All the waitresses have been lovely and the owner/chef is really nice as well. I really enjoy and recommend Momo to anyone who loves sushi. You won’t be...
Read moreI hate to do this but I’m hoping the feedback helps. The staff is always incredibly friendly and I’ve always had a good experience. Unfortunately something has changed and they are now making sushi that resembles something you would find at a Mexican gas station. The dynamite roll is pretty much the worst I’ve had. It’s actually a weird hybrid of a California roll now which makes zero sense but you need a spoon to eat it as it’s rolled so huge it won’t fit in anyone’s mouth, put together horribly sloppy and doesn’t taste or look like a dynamite roll whatsoever. The rice is also so sticky that it sticks to everything (such as the maki next to it and the take away box/paper forcing it to tear apart). If your sushi chef needs some help remembering what a dynamite rolls is please refer to the best one in the city which can be found at Bistro Sakana. Best of luck to all of you but my husband and I will not...
Read moreDecent sushi joint. I'd return for some fun.
Pros: Prices are very reasonable - 22 pieces of assorted sashimi for $20 CAD Diet coke - $2 CAD Eel (Unagi) - $2.50 CAD Food was delicious - the sashimi was rather tasty and fresh. I was impressed
Cons: Bathroom - somebody locked the key in the bathroom and it was out of commission for a while Kitchen - they were not able to cook any tempura or fried stuff since the kitchen was down (uh) Service - it was a bit slow, but I cannot blame the waitresses. They were truly hauling major tail for having to service 10 tables with only 2 folks. I tipped generously even though it took a while.
Overall, I'd return here. It's a "fun" vibe here. Great for a college hangout or a serious pre-game session with sushi. I would not come here for a first date though - it gets loud, people burp, and the wall is literally open to a barber...
