An international jewel on a side street in Vancouver beautiful British Columbia, Canada . With branches in many countries and several locations in Japan, Marutama Ra-men Restaurant food is unique in many respects. All ingredients, as the restaurant notes are made on premises. Fresh Ramen originally Chinese noodles gained popularity in Japan. The following is kind of interesting: "Founder Tetsuya Kudo first established MARUTAMA RA-MEN back in April 1st 2001 in Kawaguchi, Japan. It was the last day before his 40 years birthday. His dream was to create the ra-men that people from all over the world could enjoy. Chicken is one of the universal foods that you can find in almost every culture. This is how he was inspired to create MARUTAMA RA-MEN's signature creamy chicken broth (toripai tan). Since then, many people from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Canada, and Australia loves MARUTAMA RA-MEN and we wish to continue to spread MARUTAMA RA-MEN to more and more people from different background and cultures."- from Marutama Website. Marutama chicken broth was really unique. Interestingly enough, all rest of the broth was pork based. All bowls came with pork and none with chicken. Yes, other option was to go chicken broth with all veggies. Expect long lines in this relativity crowded restaurant. We almost felt guilty, eating because people waiting outside in the weather were literally looking at our food and us. Oh! Was the ra-men with veggies in chicken broth was good? Certainly delicious. It was probably so authentic that if one had ra-men in Seattle, this dish would be called something different than Ra-men that we know and are crazy about And as one sees in many restaurants toilets, there is the sign above- the American Koehler toilet- see image

This place is so cute! The mood is really set from before you even walk in the door. You could walk right past the place, its nestled in such a darling spot on a side street. The tables are quite small and close together, but the interior is extremely clean and the decor is perfect. It's everything I would imagine a ramen shop in Japan would be like, like something out of a movie. They were playing some really nice jazz music and the atmosphere was lively yet we were still able to enjoy an intimate date night dinner. And the food!!!! I had the cha shu tamago ramen with mild broth and it was amazing. Super filling, couldn't get through my whole bowl. The broth is perfect. The seaweed is a superb touch too but the egg!!!! I could live off of those eggs. I've never tasted such a good egg in my life. The noodles are made in house I believe and they have the perfect thickness, texture and taste. Ordered a gingerale and was pleasantly surprised that it came in a chilled bottle with glasses with ice to pour it into. Really a nice touch and elevates things instead of just getting a regular can of pop. You can tell from all the little things such as that that they really care about the customer here. The service was wonderful. Very quick and precise but also very friendly and they don't rush you at all. We got our food really quickly. The bathroom was also really roomy and very clean. The sink is an interesting feature and just adds another layer to making things truly feel as authentic as they are here. Believe the reviews that say this is the top dog of the ramen district because it is. Highly recommend this place.

One day I was walking from downtown to visit English Bay with my darling. It was about the lunch time on my way in West End and I felt like trying any good ramen in town. I found this restaurant has very good rating so I queues outside the restaurant though I felt like starving at that moment. The restaurant group that runs this Raman restaurant has other different ramen restaurants like the one I've visited in the Main Street. My last experience wasn't very satisfactory but this time I saw many people were queueing so I must give it a try. After 20min wait, we got the table and we ordered the signature Shoyu ramen and Aka Ramen. Both ramen were having the same signature chicken soup as the base. Aka has additional grounded nuts and chilli that further enriched the taste. The chicken soup was creamy and tasty that you want to drink it all after you finished the ramen. The pork slides were nicely done without overcooked. By adding the lemon juice to the Raman it gave a very fresh citrus note to the spicy flavour. I was regret that I didn't order the kaedama. Regarding the environment and service, the servers were friendly and attentive. They served fast and maintained a very clean environment with sufficient distance between the tables. I believe this restaurant might be the best of breed amongst the peers in the same group.

Absolutely the best ramen restaurant I’ve been to. First off, we came here on a rainy Monday. I was surprised that they have basket for you to put your bags or coats on right beside your table and the stool was amazing as it has a place for your feet to put on if you kinda want to raise it for comfort. They have a container as well to put your wet umbrella. The food itself was amazing, I’ve never eaten a ramen so tasty before and I can tell they used quality ingredients and paid attention to small details like using an actual seaweed (not sure what it is exactly called as I forgot) and not the typical dried seasoned seaweed you see in the stores. The broth was so tasty and creamy. The lager was great as well but the good part was the fact they offer a snack to go with it which is the dried noodle snack with chicken powder (complimentary) to go with it. Well lemme tell you it goes perfectly with it. Like I said these are the little details that usually skipped upon on some restaurants. To me this is some true asian culture. Overall quality of the food was amazing ! This is great hospitality. Had a full and happy tummy after! :) Great experience! Highly recommend!

Great service; our waitress was so sweet, she was patient and kind with our party that was taking long to decide on our meals. Everything looked so amazing it was difficult to decide. Finally we each decided and I ordered the Aka (Red) Ramen, add the Egg. The Ramen soup was DELICIOUS! Everyone's meal came within perfect timing of the next, it was hot and perfect for slurping up noodles. The broth wasn't heavy feeling but light and creamy, just enough salt and packed of poultry flavour (I prefer next to the traditional fatty pork broth, though that is also exceptionally yummy) Our group enjoyed the additional trio of toppings available at the table, to spice according to our own palettes; each dried roasted garlic, sesame seeds, and ground chilli- PERFECTION. I couldn't help myself; I ordered more noodles and broth 😆😩it was just so so tasty! I waddled away more than full and happy with a warm Marutama Ramen filled belly. I also loved to see that this restaurant was manly young chefs and waiters(tresses), the atmosphere and vibe was young and friendly. I would highly recommend to all friends and family. Don't miss this stop on your visit to Vancouver. 🍜💕

One of the best ramen places in Vancouver. The city certainly has no shortage of quality ramen shops; with plenty of competition in the area, Marutama still shines with their delicious bowls of ramen. The texture of the pork was probably my favourite aspect of the ramen. The pork was chewy yet soft, and absorbed the right amount of broth to blend very well with the rest of the bowl. Although the broth was a little thinner than some other places, it was seasoned very well. The texture of the ramen noodles was also just as I liked. Although my personal preference would be Santouka just down the street, Marutama is still a very solid option, and I know many people who prefer this over Santouka. Definitely check this location out and decide for yourself!
