The food is soo good and the coffee is almost as good as Tim Hortons .. prices are fair and the fries taste like fries before I could taste fish chicken ect in the fries I seriously got sick everyone I came here and had fries I don't think they cleaned the oil before for a very long time .. but everything is home made and delicious . The first time I came here was Friday and been here 4 times since I tried it out again I was iffy about coming here but really happy I did XD LOVE LOVE LOVE IT .. I would give it a 5 but I minus one due to one of the waiters and long waits just to order food and yesterday morning there was a lot of drunks here being rowdy and swearing I'm trying to get into a fight and my kids were here and they didn't say any thing to them I had to finally get up and go over there and tell them that there is kids here they still continued to swear and argue for a minute than left .. and today there's a couple drunk ppl but they happy lol .. other than that food is...

It's such a special, secret place hidden in a part of the city of Vancouver, that obviously intimidates your average homeowner. The nostalgia it inspires reminds me of how small diners actually were when I was a child in the 1980's. It is easily one of my favorite restaurants to actually be inside of. They are also the only place I know that offers blue berry pancakes on their menu. Definitely, highly recommended with a side of 3 or more bacon. The staff there seem genuinely happy to work there, which is something so important to me. To be fair, I would have given max stars on everything, but then would anyone bother to read this? This is one of the last great secrets of Vancouver's Eastside: it would be a lie to...

This cafe is an historical landmark on the downtown East Side it has been there forever, in The seventies my mom worked here. This place is out of the past, you will experience that the food is very good and the atmosphere cozy. Sue the manager is such a beautiful carrying person who's tender warm heart has on more than one occasion taken care of me when I most needed help. There has been a few movies filmed at this location and for me the most famous would be I Robot starting Will Smith. The food is excellent and the service courtious and friendly. Enjoy this wonderful dinner, if you are there for breakfast the western omelette or Denver sandwich are two of my...

I have been going to the Ovaltine on occasion for at least 40 years. It is a good, reliable spoon, the food is regular diner fare but the place is virtually unchanged since it opened in 1942. It has been used in many TV/film/video productions because it oozes atmosphere. So if you like classic diners this is the last one to be found in downtown Vancouver. If you are not that familiar with the city be aware that the Ovaltine is on the hard part of E. Hastings (just east of Main). There are a lot of street people around but they are more benign than people might think. In all the many decades I have gone there I have never had a problem...

A little different than the last time...about 5 years ago...the place was remarkable then. Now, it's just another east side greasy spoon, with prices too high for what you get. Service started out being good with a cheery waitress anxious to please me. That ended about 20 minutes later, with the arrival of my tepid bacon and eggs...2 greasy strips of paper thin bacon, a couple eggs, and a mound of spuds along with 2 slices of generic toast, too cold to allow the margarine to melt. The coffee was almost undrinkable...old urn or something. Maybe I'll try it on another 5 years.

I loved the place! Is the first time I visited and will not be the unique. Good portions in food, the staff is awesome and they serve your order immediately. The strawberry milkshake is a blast! The place is super iconic and north american classic, the music man! Rush was playing while I arrived . Sadly looks abandoned because is in old Vancouver zone surrounded by homeless people but this not dismiss it value, I would love to see oldie Vancouver and its historical places better worthy
