Dear Papis Management, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to share feedback on my recent dining experience at your restaurant on april 8, which I had eagerly anticipated due to your excellent reputation. Regrettably, my experience fell short of the expectations I had. Firstly, I encountered an issue with the all the food I ordered; it was not only served cold but also had a foreign object (a hair) in it. Additionally, despite the restaurant not being busy at the time, there was an unusually long wait of approximately 45 minutes for the food to arrive at my table. I fully understand that unexpected challenges can occur in any service environment, and my aim in writing is not to criticize harshly but rather to convey my experience in the hope that it might be constructive. Ensuring food quality, hygiene, and timely service are critical components of customer satisfaction, and I believe addressing these areas could greatly enhance the dining experience for future patrons. I remain appreciative of the efforts your team makes to provide a pleasant dining atmosphere and am hopeful that my feedback will be received in the spirit of fostering improvement. It is my sincere wish to revisit Papi's Seafood and Oyster Bar in the future and enjoy the outstanding service and culinary excellence I know you are capable of delivering. Thank you for taking the time to consider my feedback. I look forward to any steps you may take in response to these concerns and to possibly dining with you again under improved circumstances. Kind regards, Victor Vazquez

I decided to make this comment so that the owner of this restaurant takes action and saves this place. Today was nice sunny day all of restaurants and bars at english Bay was crowded and fully booked, we went to PAPI’S because it was the only empty restaurant , this is a great restaurant with good food overlooking the sea beautiful view yes I’ve been there a few times in the Evening So today was 2:30pm Upon ordering a table, there were several empty tables inside and outside. The attendant a girl told us that all the tables were reserved but we could come back at 3pm , my husband found strange and asked her how could this will be available at 3pm if at that time it was 2:30pm and the restaurant was empty??? she then gave us a table outside after we pushing her , I would say to the owner of this restaurant that these 3 employees who were there today will soon close this restaurant , we saw several customers arrive and this girl say that was Fully book , just because they not want to work, I agree that 3 employees is not enough to manager a lot customer but couldn’t loose clients like I saw today , the owner needs put his eye on his business or will soon close the doors because of this team of employees . by the way the second patio was closed even with a beautiful sunny day , check the photos . I really sorry for the owner .

Papi's Seafood and Oyster Bar has delicious food and a stellar location. The food was a 4.5 and the view/atmosphere was a 5. We ordered so many things off the menu. Let's start with the oysters. They had about 6 oysters on rotation, 3 from West Coast and 3 from East Coast. The Sunseekers are probably my favorite for the night. The prawns in garlic butter sauce was heavenly with huge prawns cooked perfectly. We couldn't stop mopping up the sauce with our bread. The white wine mussel fries were delicious and we finished almost every single one of them. There was only 1 mussel that didn't open properly so we left it. The kale salad was probably the best kale salad I've had without having too much or little dressing. The perfect amount of cheese and a few cherry tomatoes. The clams with Asian cooking wine and butter was my least favorite item. It was fine, but it wasn't memorable. Everything tasted really fresh as well as the service being excellent. The Caesar drink came with a raw oyster. Enjoyable drink that went with everything we ate, but a little light on the alcohol. The view is the last thing I wanted to mention, which is my favorite close to English Bay. Whether you're sitting outside in the summer or inside by the window during winter, it's always gorgeous.

I have been here twice now, but still need to try a few more dishes. I woukd say this is more of a 3.5 stars, but that is not an option and with COVID19 I don't want to bring down a rating for such a quaint business that may be struggling. Papis is quite tiny, especially in the off season when you are not going to want to sit on their cute little patio. They patio has a great view and I highly recommend in the summer. Inside is cozy with both and tables, suoer decent Denman street watching and they awesome plastic dividers we are now used to seeing. Service is friendly and attentive. They menu has quite a few tasty options to choose from. We started with the Calamari. This is the typical rings and squid bodies type of calamari. I prefer Humbolt squid because it seems less likely to be over cooked. This Calamari dish was mostly cooked properly, sans a few over cooked chewy pieces. The batter was light, which I much appreciated. This is jot a greasy Calimari! Overall I like it, but I was not blown away. The flavour needs work. There are jalapeños in this dish, but they were odd, fried maybe?? Not much flavour or spice to them. It is also possible the odd after taste to the dish may have been from the oil from the fryer. Sometimes, if not changed regularly enough, you get a bunch of other flavors in your calamari that should not be there. Next we had they Tomato and chorizo Mussles. This was quite tasty. I really enjoyed the broth. It was served with Texas toast which I thought was odd. It seems "cheap" and honestly doesn't soak up the broth near as well as a Baggett would. Lastly, we had thr seafood currey. It was $24 and came with 2 scallops, 2 prawns, one small piece of white fish, and muscles and clams (mostly muscles and clams). The curry is very mild in spice, and all thi creamy is lacking in flavour. It is supposed to be Thai style, but it tastes more Indian. Doesn't have that rich, sweet flavour that most Thai curries have. Also, served with Texas toast instead of rice, making it a bit if a waste of all the curry sauce. I thought this dish was a bit over priced for what you get. If u plan on ordering the muscles don't also order the curry. They dishes are too similar and you will be dissapointed. Next time I visit, I will try their prawn pasta and the oyster Kilpatrick (sounds fun). They also have a happy hour 3-6pm, but I haven't...

Sat on the patio with a few female friends when a seemingly belligerent patron, very aggressively started to become abusive towards my table. It was very frightening! The patron clearly high on something and the manager absolutely had no proper protocols in place from the very beginning! To put his other patrons in danger like that is negligible! The manager with a lot of difficulty, finally escorted him out. The server who also tried to help apologized and told us this patron didn’t look right as soon as he entered the restaurant. Again where are the safety protocols in place for a restaurant that operates in downtown??!!! The manager came to our table with an apology and I brought up the fact that safety protocols should have been initiated before serving alcohol to this patron where he gave me some fake lip service to my real concern and absolutely no acknowledgment to make this wrong a right. Instead the server came back to now change the story that this patron was completely “fine” in the beginning and she only served him “2 double gins” and she had no idea what happened! Protocol number ONE: don’t lie to your customers! Customers don’t have stupid written on their forehead! Protocol number two: as soon as this scary situation is dealt with, just say “sorry” the situation wasn’t handled correctly from the gecko! Don’t try to cover things up. Be honest! And Make it right for your customers who are clearly shaken up by this whole ordeal! The staff served alcohol to a patron who was clearly disturbed. Very, very poor management skills especially being in the center of downtown. I do not feel safe to ever go back there again under this type of management! What a horrible experience after paying for a meal that should have been an enjoyable time with my friends in a relaxing, trusted establishment. This is the reason people go out for a meal, to enjoy the atmosphere and have a good experience. At least offer some complimentary bread rolls to acknowledge a learning lesson for your restaurant that came from your customer’s horrifying experience. Well needed training for the manager of this restaurant is an...

There were three of us. The first person to put their order of food was completely forgot about. The second order of food came within minutes and I was left eating with two people who had no food( The pasta I ordered tasted like air and the garlic toast was obviously wonder bread from the grocery store). The other person had to waive the server down to even put an order in. By the time we had both finished the food we realize that the first order had been completely forgotten about. When arrived it was clear that the Halibut in the fish and chips had been fried a second time when it had been forgotten about/ not picked up by server. The cutlery had also all been taken away, So when he finally got his food, he had nothing to eat with. The server was less than apologetic about the whole thing and in fact seem to have an attitude about it. Furthermore, I asked for house wine and instead was given wine that was $23 a glass. After all the mess of the food that was the only thing that was checked up on, and I was given another glass of wine, which I expected to be around $10- so my wine alone was over $60 . No dessert menu was offered or any follow up questions about what we may want. The bill took forever to come even though even though we were clearly done. The restaurant was basically empty, so I’m not sure that the server was overwhelmed. We have bad days and I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but the attitude of the whole thing was very offputting. Having brought brought my folks there from out of town for a really nice experience, this was disappointing to...
