As a matcha lover who loves to support Canadian matcha businesses- discovering and ordering ceremonial matcha from Paragon Tea Room was something I was looking forward to. It seems like many are enjoying their drinks and services but unfortunately - I have not even had an opportunity to try out their matcha.
On Feb 6th I placed an order from Alberta and received a shipment confirmation and tracking number on Feb 8th. Did not receive anything by 13th and I realized that the tracking number was not updating any information so I reached out to Paragon via email for the first time on the 13th.
I have not received any reply so I tried their IG on the 14th. I got a reassurance that they will expedite my order. Unfortunately between February 13th and until today - I have sent out total of 3 emails, and DMs on 6 different days. I have received 1 email back and received replies via DM on two different days.
I have heard from Paragon that -seems like the parcel has been lost -Parcel was not scanned -It will arrived by February 21st -It was re shipped on February 20th
I understand that things can happen and issues with the carrier is often out of small businesses' hands. However, Paragon has been significantly missing in action when it comes to providing timely replies to the customer. Constantly leaving a customer on read and not being able to reply to their emails when the email address is the only form of contact that was provided to the public - is a building ground for frustration.
Since Feb 8th, the shipment is still remaining at the status of "Almost Ready" and Paragon has failed to provide me an estimated delivery date so at this point I am not really excited to receive the product anymore and I did request for a transaction dispute. I hope it...

Pssst, I have a secret menu item to show you!! 🤫
Paragon Tea Room is where tea and innovation come together, creating fantastic drinks and treats. Yes, they offer bubble tea, but they also offer a selection of drinks that you wouldn't find anywhere else. (Like mango hojicha?! 🥭)
On this visit, I decided to go with one of their secret menu items: the Thai milk tea. For those that have never had Thai tea before, it's a strong black tea with a mix of spices that may include star anise, tamarind, or cardamom. I like drinking it black usually, but when you have it as a milk tea, the little bit of sweetness changes things up entirely. It's super refreshing and the milk helps bring out the subtle hints of all the different spices in the tea. Their Thai milk tea is a perfect summer thirst-quencher! 😋
Previously, I've tried their pu'erh tea, over ice. For those that don't know, pu'erh is actually fermented, and the fermentation process contributes to its dark colour and unique flavour profile! I usually drink it hot when I'm at dimsum, but having it cold with ice is really good too! Served cold, the tea isn't as bitter and I can still pick up the rich earthy notes from the dark tea.
The hojicha misto was definitely a more modern drink. It was the first time I've tried oat mylk, and I found it pretty tasty. I can't really handle dairy, so this might be a good substitute for me! The roasted flavour from the hojicha was so delicious, and it paired very well with the sweetness from the pearls.
If you haven't already, make sure you give Paragon a try! Their awesome and friendly staff are ready to change up your perspective...
Read moreHowwwaaa bout' that Hojicha Oat Miso eh?! This niche, quaint and quirky tea joint is so unique, a hidden gem and just what any city such as Van needs, and I love it! From the internal decor, the vibe and the menu has so much level of detail and is nailed to absolute perfection. The staff are are also super friendly, extremely knowledgeable, great for recommendations/product knowledge and very talented. I love the teaspresso machine, it's mesmorizing and makes uber yum drinks. I love the ethics of Paragon in that they look to be sustainable as possible whilst using only plant based milk and their compostable cups. On a warm day they also make good looking plant-based bubble teas, offer cold drinks and have a cute little pop-up bubble waffle station to kick your sweet tooth craving! They do also have a yum bakery section and a huge scope of local products and Teas on offer. Unfortunately I was too late to grab one of the Matcha Easter eggs and sold out. I got the Hojicha Oat Miso, in which they use a quality product of the Earth's Own Oat barista milk brand which is a local company with excellent eco friendly awareness and sustainability ethics also. I cannot describe how tasty and unique this drink is. It really is a craftsmanship work of art, I am officially in love. I also had to go for seconds and try the Hojicha Oat Miso Obidian which has a more chocolatey and nutty texture, also super yummy!! I'd never tried Hojicha before, but after some research I was dying to go and try it and so glad I made the trip. They also have a loyalty stamp scheme which is super sweet, albeit dangerous for me since I can't stop drinking Matcha and Hojicha from here now :p Please open a branch in the Burnaby area pleeeaaseee!!
