A Promising New Spot with Room for Improvement My friend and I recently tried Six Acres, a new neighborhood restaurant, for Saturday brunch. We were excited to sample their popular dishes and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. *The Food* We ordered the Classic and Smoked Salmon Bennies ($15.99 each), which came with house coffee. The quality of the food was good, and the portions were generous. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, making for a satisfying meal. *The Service* The staff at Six Acres were attentive and friendly, ensuring our needs were met throughout the meal. *The Ambiance* Unfortunately, the noise level was a major drawback. Sitting upstairs, we found it challenging to converse due to the sound traveling up. While the atmosphere was lively, it felt more chaotic than cozy. *Verdict* Despite the noise issue, we're willing to give Six Acres another try. We'll aim to visit during the weekdays when it's less busy, hoping for a more relaxed experience. With some tweaks to their sound management, Six Acres has the potential to become a beloved neighborhood gem. Rating: 4/5 stars Recommendation: Visit during weekdays for a more peaceful experience.

I kept seeing ads and sponsored posts about their $16 brunch deal, so I decided to check it out with friends. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst brunch experience I’ve had in Vancouver. First, we had made a reservation, but we were told to wait for about 10 minutes until our table would be ready. After we asked again, it turned out they had given our table away to other customers and asked if we would mind waiting at the counter table. After about 15 minutes, some tables on the second floor became available. The space was pretty tight with a low ceiling, but it was okay overall. What was egregious was that it took them an hour to bring our food out (avocado toast, salmon benedict, big breakfast). Lastly, the food tasted really average. As someone who isn't a great cook, I feel like there's a problem when I think I could make the same thing at home, if not better. The service seemed overwhelmed by the volume of customers, so they forgot to offer water refills, or we had to constantly ask for our table, food, etc. It’s too bad, as I had initially planned to return for the Sunday roast, but this experience really left a bad impression.

🌤 Six Acres (Gastown) — Atmosphere: 10/10, Food… not quite I had high hopes when I saw their $16 brunch special — and with a cozy sunny patio, live music, and that classic Gastown charm, I was so ready for a perfect solo brunch moment. ✨ But… honesty time. The wait was long — both for a table and for my food. I sat outside alone (which I love!), but maybe that’s why I felt a little forgotten. When my avocado toast finally arrived, it was cold, and honestly… tiny. Like, beautiful, but definitely not enough to fill me up, even for brunch. I really expected a bit more for the price. That said, the vibe saved everything. The singer was amazing, the music made it feel like a little movie scene, and the view from the patio was so lovely. My server was super sweet, and the fact that she refilled my coffee definitely made me smile ☕🤍 So yes, the food experience wasn’t the best — but the atmosphere? Magical. If you’re coming for the vibe, it’s totally worth a visit. Just don’t come starving 😅 📍 Six Acres, Gastown, Vancouver 🎶 Brunch with a view & live music 📸 More honest finds & cozy recs on IG: @kitnessg.cg

Please stay safe and do not visit!

We visited Six Acres after having read glowing reviews of the food online. We hoped that this would be our experience, but it was not to be. We never got to try the food due to safety issues.

When we arrived, we were seated by a woman with her mask down and her septum piecing visible. We were initially seated downstairs, but found it too drafty so we asked if we could be seated upstairs. We were seated on the upstairs balcony overlooking the entrance. We could see the table we had previously been at was not sanitized before they seated someone else at it. My partner visited the restroom right after we were sat down.

When my partner returned from the restroom she was visibly shaken. When in the bathroom she discovered that she had been standing in vomit from a previous visitor to the restroom. She immediately notified our server of the situation and realized that she had the vomit on her shoes and had tracked it through the dining area.

A few moments later, our server returned to our table and attempted to get a drink order from us having done nothing to even ensure that others would not attempt to use the washroom. We questioned why she was trying to get a drink order rather than closing down the restroom the server became defensive and stated that she had known about the issue before we entered the restaurant and was going to do something about it soon. The server then went back downstairs, still having done nothing to close off the restroom.

We were shocked and decided that this was not a safe place to eat dinner during a pandemic if this was their reaction to a potentially dangerous health situation.

We went downstairs and attempted to speak to a manager,  who turned out to be the same woman with her mask down rhat had seated us. Instead of taking our concerns seriously she became defensive and gave reasons why they had not closed down the bathroom to ensure the safety of those at the restaurant and saidbhowbshe just became aware of the bathroom and that we were being unreasonable. During this conversation, we noted that her mask was still down below her nose which we mentioned only to have her get angry at us, making us even more concerned about how seriously she takes guest safety.

The next day, I attempted to reach the owner and passed along our experiences. As he was not available I left a message and laid out the situation to another manager who sounded concerned and promised to pass along the information to the owner.

Today I received a call from the same manager who was on shift the night we were at the restaurant. She did not immediately state that she was the same person, and instead listened to the story again, then identified herself and proceeded to get defensive and turn the situation around on us as guests because we were not wearing masks and saying we are entitled and how we do not understand how hard it is to stay in business in the current climate.

I would advise on avoiding this establishment until the management and staff begin to make the health of their...

Response to the owner Let’s be clear on the facts.Your claim of reaching out to me at 4pm is false as the timestamp sits at 5:11PM. I shared my message inbox with the AGM on my arrival and she confirmed that no notifications was received on my end about the cancellation.

My contact with the restaurant was at 7:40 NOT 7:50. There were no advanced communication on your policy towards reservation hold. Laughable was the initial waiter that picked up the call claiming multiple calls were made to me when no such occurrences took place - further painting a picture of scapegoating the customer.

The pretend attempts when we were at the restaurant to find a solution falls far short of what hospitality stands for. First came the excuse of a large party and all indoor seating was full when there were still empty seats. Not once were there an explanation of the patio being full. The patio at the time was only 50% occupied if not less. Initially the AGM actually told us we only had the patio seats to sit, and we decided to take it. Yet, she walked back on that offer after a phone call (with you?) and told us that it could not be arranged due to another excuse that the kitchen was busy. If the kitchen was in fact busy, you would assume that this be applied fairly to all guests. Behind us were another walk-in party that the AGM kindly presented them with the menu confounding the excuse we were told.

At no point had there been any accommodations provided rather refusal of service over and over again. The miscommunication demonstrated by the AGM did not convey any hospitality and felt insincere with the intent to show us the door.

I would encourage you to read the facts and understand the frustrations. The rating is a reflection of the experience we had. Original review Absolutely ridiculous experience.

Completely unorganized, with disrespectful management and rude hosts/servers. We made a reservation through email and they canceled it without any notice. When we arrived, they casually told us they had a group reservation and couldn't accommodate us—despite several empty tables clearly visible in the restaurant.

We even offered to sit on the patio in the rain, just to make it work, but then they came up with another excuse: that the kitchen was "backed up" and couldn’t serve us. Funny how there were still people getting food at the patio.

The whole situation felt dishonest and dismissive. The staff showed zero accountability or hospitality. WILL...

So I really wish in this instance there were sectional ratings right now. Customer service was great. I had a hard time figuring out what beer I wanted (I went with the Philips Tilt... very good beer), and they were kind enough to give me a free sample. The sample was very generous too! So thank you for that! The staff were kind, friendly and npt intrusive. They gave my friend and I ample privacy, but still checked up on us at appropriate times.

The food was good. We had the mussels which were $10. Pretty reasonable although the were pretty small. The sauce was fantastic. Where things went south a little was the wings. We ordered the teriyaki wings. Those that know me know I LOVE Japanese food and LOVE teriyaki sauce and teriyaki wings. I was expecting something like what upu'd get at the Pint. This wasn't the case. The wings were $15 which in my mind is kind of expensive, but from what I've heard there is also a bit of a wings shortage, so maybe thst has something to do with the price. The wings were stacked like a pyramid which was kind of nifty. However they were dry. No sauce. Instead we were given a little cup with some type of sauce and another little cup with sour cream. The sauce, to me, tasted nothing like teriyaki sauce, and it was very watery. We barely touched the sauce. Thankfully the wings were seasoned and tasted good without the sauce I requested. That being said, I still would have preferred the proper sauce.

I think this place has potential. It is small, but kind of cool. I think they need to work on their "wings mojo", maybe offer a few more flavors as I think they only had like 6 flavours, and maybe actually sauce up the wings themselves like the pint does. Also maybe lower the price a little on the wings, or at least offer a deal for wings and a beer for $17 or $18 or...
