Sushi Coen — Restaurant in Vancouver

I tried to reach out to give them a chance to rectify the issue before I posted publicly but I never heard back. They seem to have two major issues: 1. the food 2. the online presence. They have two website running, one with a menu with outdated prices. We were a bit shocked to see a difference in the bill and what was included with some of the things we ordered. Deactivating this second website would be very helpful in reducing customer dissatisfaction. 2. The food was not great, and we waited double estimated time to pick up. The sashimi was frozen and inedible (I know its supposed to be frozen now, the issue was that it shouldn't be frozen when you are about to eat it). The rolls were so packed with mayo, and there was almost no flavour. It was really unfortunate as this seems to be everyone's favourite hole in the wall, but it appears to be in decline. Used to be pretty good when it was really late at night and options were limited.

Now it’s gone WAY downhill . Ordered earlier -

Delivery took way longer then first stated

-Hot Sauce was open and spilled all over the bag and the containers

-The calamari tempura roll was tasting freezer burnt, frozen not fresh and hard as a rock. Couldn’t eat it.

-Chicken Karaage didn’t have the Sauce that usually comes with it. The meat was brown & fatty and the coating was hard as a rock and was cold.

-Gyoza was cold and hard as a rock.

-Salmon roll was NOT what was pictured. The nori was a weird greyish green color and it was warm.

Was so turned off that I haven’t yet tried the Bibimbap but they used lettuce as a filler so that should tell you something ..

I feel like this was food that was cooked many hours ago and then just microwaved to heat up. The sushi was sad and pathetic. Should have been cool and crisp not warm.

Total waste of money....

I was seriously shocked at how poor the quality of the food was. The rice (on my toro nigiri) was incredibly hard it felt like it was left out for a long time. The "toro" didn't taste of even look like toro. The edges of the fish were discoloured yellow and the flavor was so off that I spat it out. The avocado they used in my salon avocado roll had the texture of a under ripe mango; it was as if they ran out of avocado and just decided to use under ripe ones rather than tell me the item was unavailable. I ordered my food through doordash so I wasn't able to get any sort of remake or refund from the restaurant directly. I'm assuming the restaurant chose to use their worst quality ingredients knowing I wouldn't be able to complain directly. I'm making this review to help people steer clear and save...
