So I just found this place by accident, and got drawn in by the burger and a beer deal. ($10) I just needed a beer and a meal, so I stopped in here. I don't know if the waiter just didn't quite understand English, or if he was legit rude???!!! I asked if he could put in the hockey game, and he said, "actually, I'm watching this".... and in the most polite voice, I said, "OK, no problem!"
Another guy came out, and almost immediately changed the channel to football. The other guy WASN'T WATCHING ANYTHING. So now I just feel like I was lied too, and got a really bad taste in my mouth!!!
Over all, the burger was good, but had a weird taste to it, but was still ok. The service here was the absolute SH!TS!!!!
If you want cheap drinks, then this is the place to go!!!! If you want great service to come with your order, DON'T COME HERE!!!
It was VERY hard to even communicate with the staff...... I probably won't be back!
And as a food critic, you guys might want to NOT lie to your customers!!!!! Also, you may want to be NICE AND FRIENDLY if you want people to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have loved this cafe/restaurant for over 20 years. Itās the best place to come for a glass of wine and home style focaccia sandwiches with soup, salad and cold pasta salad (the best!) on the side. You wonāt get bothered and pressured to leave here, ever. Itās such a hidden gem in Vancouver and every time I go here, it feels like Iām the only one who knows about this iconic Vancouver cafe. I have literally left my home in east van to at 11pm just to come here and not ābe seenā. Itās nostalgic, atmospheric and like nothing else in Vancouver. Other Vancouver institutions (long gone) come to mind when I think of Tafās : Cafe Cucamonga, the Classical Joint, etc). Local art on the walls, great music, that teleports me to Spain, unique environment, space upstairs that feels like a meeting area for Tony Soprano. Itās incredible that it has surpassed the gentrification of downtown, unscathed. It has not changed at all since itās been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat place to chill, alone, or with a friend or two. Came here last week, for the first time, after reading multiple bad reviews. I didnāt come in feeling entitled to anything, and I had a great experience. Couple of $4 beers (GI Pale Ale) before the show, and a soup/salad combo (Chicken Caesar salad and pumpkin soup ā $8.50.) Soup was bland, but the salad was decent; with Focaccia bread, too, so no complaints, at that price. I wouldnāt come here for a fancy dinner but it seems like a nice, mellow room, if you want to be alone or chat with a friend or two. I almost felt like I was in a cafĆ© in some other country ā in a good way. I enjoyed the background music, too, which seemed like an eclectic mix, not too loud.
I approached the owner/staff (?) with politeness and respect, and they did the same with me.
Early on a Wednesday evening. Just a couple other small tables of people (2 and 3) while I was here. Iād come...
