I was craving a beef stir fry with a black pepper sauce. I know a few restaurants offer such a thing but I couldn't remember any of them. Upon a Google search, this restaurant popped up and it looked good. I decided to check it out.
I love the concept of hand-pulled noodles. For the more traditional thin and soft noodle, pick the "dragging noodle". I also ordered vegetable spring rolls for my partner and I, whereas he ordered the cumin fried noodle with lamb for himself. He chose the "pushing noodle".
When the spring rolls arrived, they did not look like what I expected. When I bit into it, I realized it was actually a beef roll. So, the waitress got my order wrong but there were no complaints from me because the beef roll was DELICIOUS. However, the story might be different if I was a vegetarian (Thankfully, I'm not.)
My noodle stir fry made me very happy. I found the black pepper sauce was not too peppery like some places make, but it was still very delicious. I tried a bit of my partner's cumin stir fry, which I thought was also very delicious. However he said that for him, it was quite bland. And he didn't enjoy the thickness or chewiness of the noodle, but he has dull teeth and struggles to eat noodles in general, so I think it should be no problem for anyone else.
All of our food came out extremely quickly, each with chopsticks, a fork and spoon. My noodles were long so I was given a pair of scissors as well (which was very nice, but I'm a master of eating noodles!) We were immediately poured delicious tea upon sitting down as well. The waitress had a sense of humor, was very kind and didn't pester us when we were eating, which I appreciated. It really is a nice and relaxing place to eat. I would like to come back here to try...
Read moreIn a world of reviews where people don’t understand different types of dining. This is not fancy. This is a place where you get good food, and a good price, a lot of Asian dining isn’t about white glove service, their job is to serve you food fast and efficiently. It’s just not the culture for them to wait on you every second.
The food was amazing, I was in the middle of the longest move of my life to this neighbourhood. We chose this place cause it was literally across the street from my new home.
The ginger beef was amazing, umami and gingery and soft spicy from the ginger, huge portion.
We got the house special dragging noodles (love all the options) they were delicious and salty with chicken, and cabbage, messy but yes that’s the fun
garlic fried broccoli, was awesome, haven’t eaten that much brocolli in a long time, so garlicky and delicious.
We got the chive dumplings. Dip them in the ginger beef sauce. Best!
Between two of us we had four dishes, and we had enough leftovers for two and we ate a ton there. Go here please, but also understand in a world of inane instagram good reviews, this is about eating, and being served food, looking for an experience? Go to cactus club and put that...
Read moreThe noodles were good, (I had take out) but the lady behind the counter didn't give me a bag to put the noodles in. Not too big of a deal for some people but I had other things to carry and that noodle container was hot. It was also floppy. The liquid inside somehow managed to leak onto my wrist while they handed it to me. Thankfully I didn't get burned. Remember how McDonald's had to put that 'caution - hot' sign on their cups? There's a story behind that. The lady had plenty of plastic bags with napkins and utensils off to the side but she refused to provide even just a bag for me. They probably thought the paper bag I had was good enough but my bag was holding cold things - it was not appropriate to have something hot on top. I told them so, but they didn't care. So being Canadian and not wanting to kick up a fuss, I left. And got rained on, got my finger tips mildly scalded, almost had the container break open on me. All in all I had a LOT of difficulty that would have been fixed with just a simple 5 cent plastic bag the restaurant refused to provide.
So enjoy your noodles, but service doesn't have to be like that. Thanks...
