I recently had a disappointing experience at Arun Bakery due to the unprofessional and rude replies of the assistant manager. Upon entering the bakery, I had hoped for a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. However, the assistant manager's attitude was far from that. He displayed a complete lack of respect and courtesy towards me and other customers, which left me feeling offended. He was rushing us, making fun of us in front of other customers and then proceeded to the back room and told the co-workers about us in which they laughed about the situation. It is deeply concerning to witness such behaviour from a person in a managerial position. Not only was the assistant manager rude, but he also set a terrible example for the rest of the staff. Moreover, Despite numerous complaints from customers about the food, it appears that they fail to take any meaningful steps to improve its food and service. It does not make any sense that they charge prices that are significantly higher than what would be expected for the quality of their food. It is incredibly disappointing to see a business ignore valuable feedback from its customers. This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and unprofessional, especially in a customer-oriented business. As a customer, I believe the behaviour shown by the assistant manager not only tarnished my experience but also left a lasting negative impression on the bakery as a whole. I hope that Arun Bakery takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue quickly. Is this how the people in your community treat others rudely?? Other companies and stores respect customers first and are the top priority but over here that belief is completely missing. This is not the first time this has happened but many times. Management must reevaluate their staff training and enforce a culture of respect and professionalism. Customers deserve to feel valued and appreciated, and it is the responsibility of the bakery's management to ensure that their staff members uphold these standards. I sincerely hope that my review serves as a wake-up call for Arun Bakery to correct the situation and improve its customer service. I cannot recommend this bakery to others until they have changed their work environment and ethics, thank you for your...
Read moreI have visited this place quite a few times to buy food. I've noticed that as the day progresses they keep all the food remaining from the morning instead of making fresh batches and keep selling the stale food as their vadas, rolls etc. tastes stale. Two days ago on Friday night April 14th me and my friends visited here and ordered porota, chicken curry and puttu chicken. The chicken curry was bad. And every single one of us got very bad diarrhea the next day and continuing today. My friends are from London and they visited that night. This food is the only common thing that we ate and got sick. I was reading previous negative comments and I see a pattern from the owner of this store. They always gaslight the grievances of the people putting the reviews and victim blame the customers. They do not have the courtesy to take responsibility for their bad food. My friend called them today morning to express this issue and instead of looking into the matter and apologizing for the inconveniences they caused me and my friends by spoiling our weekend, they continued with the same gas lighting and victim blaming behavior and started interrogating them saying that we ate something else to make us sick when my friend continuously repeated that the only common food the four of us are was food from Arun bakery. YOU NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF YOUR BAD FOOD AND BAD COOKING HABITS RATHER THAN BLAMING YOUR CUSTOMERS. I will never be visiting this store again and ask everybody else to visit this store at your own risk. Your store runs from the support of the Maple community so I suggest you take our complaints seriously and do your job to provide good services to...
Read moreVisited Arun Bakery the other day in an unassuming plaza beside Canada's Wonderland. This takeout place has a good reputation for South Asian food so we came to check out why. We found it a bit strange that there were no menus but they were friendly enough to explain, and I guess the regulars know exactly what to order! The specialty here is Sri Lankan food. We tried two curry dishes (about $7 each) with roti bread. True to the cuisine, both exploded with amazing flavour & heat from the first bite.
The chicken curry was more creamy while the mutton curry was darker in depth like a red-hot caudron. The chunky pieces of protein were tender, and they were surprisingly generous with the portions. The spice level is likely unbearable to some, but at least they're authentic and don't hold back. The samosas were also worth trying: their veggie samosas (about $1 for 3) were well-seasoned with potato/lentil filling and a nice crisp pastry skin.
I've been told that Indian food becomes hotter as you try southern cuisine, and the island of Sri Lanka is off the southern tip so be warned! Arun Bakery has been open for about 10 years and seems to be a hidden gem. We'll certainly be back when we need another fix of deliciously spicy curries and...
