I came by here on soft-launch, and a few more times since. Very friendly and customer-focused.
In 2 of my visits, I needed to make substitutions due to dietary restrictions and they had no problems accommodating my requests. I even saw one of the senior members taking the time to train staff on how to properly execute an order with substitutions at the cash register (lady with crossed arms). I've been to places before where they charge extra and/or make a fuss when a small change is requested. As such I very much appreciated that they have this all figured out.
So far I've had their Tofu Teriyaki, Easi Meal, and the Thursday Special. I'll be going back.
One of the owners (seen at the cash register) is very pleasant, took the time to explain everything to me, and ensured that I knew about condiment options to better suit my tastes.
I also overheard another senior member (seen pointing at the monitor) ensuring that the cook staff were 100% aware of my substitution requests. Mind you this was on soft-launch day, so the meal I was receiving was free. Even so, I highly regard the attention to detail they were putting in to ensure a great customer experience despite it being a free meal. If they put this level of attention towards a free meal, I can safely say that a paid meal would receive as much - if not more - care in preparations.
Give this place a shot, drop by and try out...
Read moreOverhyped to no end but it's low tier Japanese food.
Walked in to the one on Major MacKenzie and Weston, was greeted by the cashier who was very nice, but kept trying to upsell me. Wayyyy too much upselling right off the bat. One chicken teriyaki with 3 scoops of sauce came out to 13.50. The cashier brought the food to the table which was nice.
Proceeding to the food, the portion wasn't bad. But the sauce was medicinal. Like VERY medicinal. Bit into a small piece of cartilage, which was also unpleasant. The stri fry veg is also sort of meh. It's just....off. I don't know how quite to describe it. The rest of it was just meh. The cashier asked how the food was and I told him the sauce was medicinal, almost artificial tasting, then proceeded to tell me its because I put 3 scoops of sauce on and next time I should try 2. I have ALWAYS gotten extra teriyaki sauce on my food, from Teriyaki Experience to places like Ginza and others. No matter how much I put on, it never tastes medicinal.
For $13.50, just spend an extra 5 bucks, go to Ginza sushi down the road, and get a MUCH bigger teriyaki, that comes with a full box of mixed tempura, 6pc of Maki, a miso soup, a salad, and spring rolls. 10x better quality, 10,...
Read moreThis was my first visit to Edo, while my husband has been a devoted fan since his student days in Alberta. The flavors were truly delightful, especially with their signature teriyaki sauce. What impressed me further was the reasonable pricing. The portion size worked perfectly for me, but I'm certain those with a bigger appetite would appreciate the Wednesday deal, offering a 50% portion increase for just $2.
Sushi enthusiasts shouldn't miss out on the Thursday special featuring a delightful assortment of four sushi types. For my partner and me, Sundays are for relaxation and avoiding cooking, which made the family deal ideal. We opted for two servings of chicken teriyaki on white rice and two servings of beef teriyaki on brown rice. Both varieties used short-grain rice, but I must say, the brown rice truly won my heart.
What's more, the place is impressively clean, and the staff's friendliness added to the wonderful experience. I encourage the staff to keep up the good work!
Overall, Edo has managed to create an experience that caters to different tastes and occasions, making it a go-to spot for us as a young couple looking to enjoy great food without the...
