25Aug25 6:26pm, do NOT waste your money here! It has been a few years since ordering here last, only because they don't deliver. So we decided to go out of our way and pick up an order tonight. It seems this place has gone down hill, terribly.
$105 gets you 1) mixed veg with tofu on fried rice. (This was an accidental order, directly above the chow mein that I meant to select. )
The mixed veg with tofu on fried rice soup. There was nothing fried about this rice. It was soupy and flavorless, tasted like it was watered down then stained out. The baby corn tasted off. The tofu 'looked' fried, but it was like eating a cold hollow sponge. So gross!
The house special fried rice lacked flavor, but was an improvement over the first rice dish. The size was decent, there were some prawns in there.
The sweet n sour pork was super soggy. Not a crumb of crunch. The nuggets were about 3cm cubes with no bones. The sweet n sour had zero tang, and again no flavor.
The lemon chicken was a decent amount of chicken, and was probably the best dish of all, but again was flavorless, even with the lemon sauce, that was also lacking tang.
The beef n sugar peas was bland. The dish was cold, but the peas were good, not over cooked.
The last thing I said as we discussed how bad this food was 'I hope this meal doesn't make me sick.' So far so good, 2 hours n15 min later.
I would have given the food zero stars if that was an option. And gave 3 stars for service and atmosphere as we did take out.
Eating out should be a treat, not...
Read moreI have eaten in a couple of times and ordered delivery 3 times. On 1 delivery I ordered the chicken chow mein with crispy noodles- when delivered there was no chicken ! I did not report this to them. On last Saturday nite delivery the food was barely warm, the chicken fried rice was sticky and little flavour, the lemon chicken was barely warm and not cooked well - was gummy. I could only eat small amount of rice and couple pieces of the chicken. I worked on the Sunday and kept the food in my fridge. I went to the restaurant on Monday to return the horrible food that I could not eat. At front counter a middle aged " oriental " lady ( no prejudice ) asked if I was eating in ? I told her about the poor food and that it was unacceptable and was looking for a refund of my hard earned money that I paid for this bad food. She was very obnoxious and uncaring - said that I should have called about the food and that it was 2 days later. I explained that I had to work and I should not have to be concerned with calling about poor food as this horrible food should not be delivered to a customer. She was very loud and refused to do anything about the situation. I said that I would not eat here again and also would tell everyone how poor the food is and their lack of customer care. I do not wish anyone bad fortune - but this is no way to keep customers returning... And I WILL...
Read moreWhat the heck? Most amazing Chinese food ever. Please tell me places where it's better than here. Classic dishes tried: SS pork: very light breading, sauce didn't look fake red, wasn't 5 litres of sauce on plate. Ginger beef: light breading, middle still moist. Not as good as Calgary ginger beef but better than every place I've tried in BC. Could've used a tad less sugar in the sauce. Garlic pork: light breading, moist. Simple ingredients (and I'm guessing but think it was seasoning salt, garlic powder, msg). Both pork dishes, meat was trimmed very well. Deep fried prawns - cut similar to Japanese sushi style with very light breading - amazing. Perfect! Chow mein - I prefer sesame oil and vegetables mixed in = could have used more flavor. Dry but I'm ok with that it wasn't soggy or oily.
To be honest, I've been making excuses to go back to Vernon just to come back to this...
