Overall satisfied with brunch at Eatology, but I'm a bit stuck on how this place works. It is like ordering at a cafe; you place your order at the front counter, but then you are told where to sit and given a number so they can bring your food out to you. There are so many problems with this system: If you get to the front of the line and you don't know what to order (because there are so many great options), you are both holding up the line and having the cashier stare at you. Wouldn't it be better to be seated, and then take your time to read your menu and decide on what to eat? So much wasted space in the restaurant. Almost the entire main part of the restaurant is a big open space where the line forms to order. This is both awkward for the diners who are eating on the perimeter, and for the people waiting to order who are standing right next to people eating. You are asked to tip when you pay.. but how are you supposed to know how good the service is, when you haven't received any service yet? What happens if someone orders at the front, but then there are no seats available? They will have to stand awkwardly in the middle of the restaurant to wait for their food to arrive? And then what happens if their food is ready, but no space to sit?
With that out of the way, let's get back to the review on my visit. Once we were seated (luckily this wasn't a problem), our food did arrive fairly quickly. We were impressed with the prices for our orders; very good value for what you received, especially the kids waffle. My husband really liked his pulled pork eggs benny, he said the egg was cooked perfectly and holly was on point. I ordered the omelette, and I ordered feta on it because I saw on the menu was a "house whipped feta", but I just got regular feta. I was going to ask the server about that, but unfortunately no one visited our table after the food was dropped off. But overall, we will likely be back.. not because of the concept, but because...
Read moreThis was my first time at Eatology in about ten years. The first time I was here I didn't like the Dirty Fries.
Given that Okanagan Eatery was closed unexpectedly early yesterday, I thought I would give Eatology a second chance.
Because the bus station shut down years ago, Eatology has been able to expand. It was very busy in here at 2pm. Luckily one table was open.
I ordered a veggie burger and fries which came to $17.85 after tax.
The staff was super friendly. Venue is clean, menus are on the wall by the front door, water stations are set up, and they even brought out the food to me.
The French Fries were nice and crispy.
However, the veggie burger didn't have much taste to it. I think the spinach leaves or the black beans messes up the taste. The combination of ingredients just doesn't go together well.
Maybe swap out the spinach leaves for jalapeños, and replace the chunky pickle slice with long and narrow ones. Just something to give the veggie burger that extra kick.
It is still five times better than a burger at Ricky's, but after eating veggie burgers in nearly 63 countries and a bunch of places around Vernon, the zestyness was definitely missing from it. It's just missing that one...
Read moreWhenever I have friends that come to town and they want to eat, one of the first places I always say is Eatology. The only thing I don't enjoys about Eatology is sometimes its busy, a consequence of its own success. Well this Thanksgiving I saw that these guys were catering take home turkey meals. Taking a little risk as I've only had the breakfasts, which I love of course. We decided to order the dinner for my partner and 2 friends visiting town. We ordered the meals online last minute before orders closed up with absolutely no issues. Picked up the meals in the parking lot that Sunday afternoon, delivered right to the car with heating directions. After picking up our meal we had a day off exploring and headed home for dinner. 20 min in the oven at 350 and the great was prepared! ❤️ Gotta say not one of us was disappointed, we were full satisfied and there were leftovers. If eatology is offering up meals on other holidays and you want to enjoy family time without cooking all day then I fully recommend the eatology...
