Los Huesos Restaurant — Restaurant in Vernon

My fiancé and I finally tried this restaurant tonight. We LOVE Mexican food so we drove from Lake Country to Vernon to try it. We were warmly welcomed into this cozy little restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. After we were seated we were ignored for the rest of the evening. Even though I positioned my empty glass at the end of the table for 20min, the waitress did not offer us another round of drinks despite walking past our table several times. When she dropped off our food we requested hot sauce and (finally) ordered another round of drinks. The margaritas took an additional 20min to come so we were already through our meals. She never came back to ask how everything was. When the drinks finally came we asked for the hot sauce AGAIN, but when she finally brought it we were already done eating. Our waitress only had two other tables to tend to so I’m not sure what the issue was. It was a disappointing evening. This restaurant could really benefit from a more modern payment system as both waitresses spent a lot of time at the bar handwriting orders and bills, then had to wait for the bartender to use a calculator to crunch numbers. My wife and I went here a couple of days ago for her birthday, while it was our first time - it certainly won’t be the last. The host was as warm and inviting as the atmosphere within the restaurant itself, we were greeted with a smile and shown great hospitality. The food itself was delicious, the portions are very generous, and I was even treated to fresh chiles when I asked about making my dinner a bit more spicy, as I do enjoy the spiciest of offerings. We started with a Pina Colada and their nachos with beef, and that itself was almost enough of a meal for the two of us, but we decided to order an entree each anyway. Much to our surprise again, the portions were very generous, the food was beautiful in presentation and rich with flavour. My wife had their chimichanga with chicken as her protein, and I went for the chipotle pork burrito. Both were as satiating as they were flavourful. Food was amazing, really very carefully made. The bartender was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant does not seem to managed well if it is open on Tuesday and Saturday, which is not efficient in terms of food waste and produce freshness. The restaurant did not have beef on one of two days that it is open, which does not make sense. The waitress informed the tables that there was also no guacamole in this authentic Mexican restaurant because it is "not in season". This cannot be true as it is a very common to have fresh guacamole in Mexican restaurants during late spring all over Canada. The waitress was the real problem here. She informed us that the wait was half an hour for our food, it was an Hour and Twenty Five minutes of wait to get our food, and only 2 out of 3 got our food. We were given many "oh your food will be right out" but we waited and waited. They were not apologetic AT ALL.
