This was my first time eating at The Curry Pot in nearly ten years. It was the first major East Indian restaurant to open in Vernon along with New Delhi. However, newer restaurants such as Haveli, Namaste, and Shahi Pakwan have truly overtaken The Curry Pot in the past five years. The decor and music inside is as nice as I remembered. The vegetarian menu is smaller than Shahi Pakwan, Namaste, and Haveli. I was surprised how few options I had, and how none of my favourites were on the menu. When I ordered my Veg Shahi Korma, he immediately offered to add rice or naan to it. I get garlic naan since Haveli, Shahi Pakwan, and Namaste always include it with a main dish. However, Curry Pot is behind on the times and did a separate charge. After I received my food, it took over twenty minutes before my glass of water is refilled. Only two other tables were occupied in the restaurant, and one of those two tables left earlier. I don't know what was going on, but the lone water refill was the only time the waitress and waiter came by my table in the 30 minutes of me eating my meal alone. Also, the other table sent their food back to the kitchen because it was undercooked. And the waiter and waitress were standing at the till not doing anything. A man at the other table even had to go up to the front and bring his cup so they could refill his water. I have never seen that before. I ordered veggie Shahi Korma, veggie pakora, and garlic naan. After tax and a 15 percent tip it came to $29.53. Because of the waiter and waitress rarely coming by my table despite the restaurant being empty, and charging me for garlic naan, and the other table sending their food back, I can't really recommend Curry Pot. Haveli, Namaste, and Shahi Pakwan are still my favourites. Haveli is one block away and has a really good dine in experience. All three places have bigger vegetarian menus too. Therefore, I can't really recommend Curry Pot. There's just too many superior options in Vernon nowadays. Current Vernon East Indian Restaurant Rankings: 1) Haveli 2) Namaste 3) Shahi Pakwan 4) Saffron Touch -Tier Gap- 5) Curry Pot

Food was average. I ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Momos and Chicken Hot and Sour Soup. Chicken Fried Rice was ok, a bit bland, expected more flavor. Chicken Momos were ok too as we didn't like the sauce it came with, so we asked for the hot sauce. The filling was good but didn't like the masala it was cooked in. The outer layering was much better and not thick like others places. Hot and Sour soup was definitely hot but was too sour, the chef just went overboard with it. Service was good but the staff just used to disappear. You have to keep looking for them either to get something or even the cheque in the end. Ambience was strictly ok. We were offered the booth seating but it didn't have any foam left. It wasn't comfortable. The place is pretty expensive compared to others. Bill attached. They should definitely work on their prices! With the current scenario, I wouldn't recommend!!

The Curry Pot was OK. They get a plus for offering delivery, but they loose points for getting our address wrong (twice). The food was good, if a bit a bland, but wasn't worth the high price we paid. The naan bread was the exceptional standout - we tried garlic naan and aloo naan and loved them both. I think you could do better home making or trying another place, but at the same time, what's on offer here isn't bad. It's just... OK.

I order the Chicken Tikka Masala plus 2 sides of rice a little more often than I probably should but they have perfected this dish - to my tastes. I order for pick/up on a Friday after work and it's ready in 20 minutes or so, depending on how busy they are. I get the "medium" heat/spicy level so it DEFINITELY has a kick but I like to savor the flavor (!) of the curry/tomato sauce and too much "heat" tends to mask this. Those of us who enjoy spicy fare would be comfortable with "med" but I recommend all others to start with the low-end-of-the-scale if they are unsure ... I would say that their medium is going to translate as "fairly hot" to most people. I have been to many other places in the area looking for the one I enjoy the most and The Curry Pot just happens to be an easy walk to and from - as well. Again, I've been a regular for quite a while because I always get excellent food and prompt/friendly service and if they were set up in a tent, I would still attend. I almost went with 5 stars ... as I have never been disappointed. One of these days, I'll have to try something else but I really (!) like their version of this classic (British?) South-Asian dish ... what the...

If i could give 0 stars to the service here, i would. The food was amazing but the service that the manager- Subhash gave was terrible . He was very rude and very arrogant. He was mopping one hour before the closing time and the smell of the cleaning chemicals was so bad and we asked him politely if he could do it later as the smell was burning in the nose and throat while we were eating. He gave us a very aggressive look and got mad at us. We even apologized for the inconvenience that we might’ve caused and he gave us an aggressive look and said we should understand that it’s their closing time. And at the end, when we addressed this situation, he arrogantly said “im the manager” and we can go ahead a put a review and he doest care. He was so rude about the whole situation and didn’t even apologized once for his behaviour. We would’ve came back for the food but because of the “manager”, we wont be returning! That’s the customer service he...
