Recently had dinner here. I ordered one of the noodle dishes with beef broth, bamboo shoots, and shrimp tempura. I found a few things wrong with this. For one, my dish and my friends dish were cold. The shrimp tempura was placed on top of the noodle soup and made it completely soggy. The bamboo shoots were very had and undercooked, but not only that, they tasted so gross. The chunks of pork in it were also very unappetizing, as they were just mostly fat chunks. Overall the soup was very swampy like. The restaurant was not clean at all, and the decore in there looks like everything was from a second hand store. I felt like I was at my grandmothers house. The utensils are in cups on the side of the table. They just looked so dirty. The chop sticks in the cups are so old looking and nawed on its gross, why can't they just use the disposal chopsticks like anyone else? Just the fact that all the utensils were out in a cup like that is cringe enough, would you like to get a flu with that ? I could only imagine how many kids and adults played around with them. The floors were dirty. No napkins. The only positive thing I could say was the staff were polite, and my beer was cold. I would not recommend you...
Read moreIf you're craving ramen that'll transport your tastebuds straight to Japan, you absolutely HAVE to check out Raku Restaurant. Seriously, this place is a five-star experience through and through.
From the moment you walk in (or even just call for takeout!), the staff are genuinely amazing. They're so friendly and welcoming, it feels like you're chatting with old friends. And even with takeout, they go the extra mile – I mean, premium chopsticks? That's the kind of attention to detail that makes a difference.
But let's talk about the star of the show: the ramen. Oh. My. Goodness. It just hits the spot. That rich, authentic broth, the perfectly cooked noodles, the tender toppings... it's like a warm hug in a bowl. When that craving for real, soul-satisfying ramen kicks in, Raku is the answer. Trust me, I've tried the other ramen spots in town, and Raku is hands down the best. It's the real deal. You can taste the quality and the care that goes into every single bowl. Do yourself a favour and go get some Raku – you won't be...
Read moreRaku Rice and Noodle Bar is a little hole in the wall kind of restaurant in downtown Vernon that you might walk past and be curious about, but the ramen is incredible and it needs to be experienced. I called this shop our ‘depression ramen spot,’ because if you are feeling blue, a big steaming bowl of spicy, savoury, comforting ramen with it’s incredible broth can change your bad day into a much better one.
This is the best ramen that I have ever had and I am a connoisseur of Japanese food, as I cook a lot of Japanese food at home and have been to Japan. This ramen is next level and so authentic that I was shocked that Vernon could have a place like this. I always go for the super ramen (the sukiyaki beef and chasu pork in it is absolutely delicious) and I would suggest that you get the garlic chilli oil on the side, as you can add as much or as little as you like.
If you want to have a big bowl of comforting, authentic, legitimate, Japanese ramen...
