We had initially gone to Stacked, however as it was just after 10am on a Sunday morning it was so busy that there were people waiting outside. So we decided to go to Sunset Grill instead but I was not confident we would get a table there either due to it being prime time on a Sunday morning. However to our surprise there were only a few tables occupied at Sunset Grill and we pretty much could have sat anywhere. Someone took our drink order almost immediately, brought our coffee right away and took our food order. My girlfriend ordered the blueberry pancakes and I ordered the light breakfast (2 scrambled eggs with fruit and whole-wheat toast), and it was at this point it all started to go wrong. We then waited over 30 minutes with no sign of our food, which I couldn’t believe as there were only a handful of tables occupied. It made me think what it would be like if it had been busy!! Eventually one of the waitresses came over and said our order would be next……well that next took another 10 minutes, and when we did finally get our food they had my order completely wrong (my eggs, fruit and toast had become bacon, eggs and home fries!!) I immediately told the waitress that wasn’t my order and she apologized and took it back over to the kitchen where you could see completely puzzled looks on the faces of the owner and kitchen staff. After another few minutes I’d decided I’d had enough and went over and told them just to forget my order that I no longer wanted it. It was clear the kitchen staff were struggling to keep up with the few orders they were getting because we saw the waitresses apologize to other tables about how long it was taking, and the Five Star General owner behind the counter was doing nothing to help. He didn’t actually appear to be doing much of anything, and at no point did he come over to talk to us or apologize. When we got the bill my food order had been removed, however I was astonished to see they had charged me almost $3 for the smallest cup of coffee I’d ever had! The owner wasn’t even clued up enough to take my coffee off the bill too. I could have gone to Tim Horton’s and got a way bigger coffee for $3 if that was all I wanted. By the time we left I had figured out why this place had so many tables available at such a normally busy time on a Sunday morning. The owner is completely clueless as to how to run the place efficiently which has resulted in people avoiding it. There aren’t really that many breakfast places in Wasaga Beach, and the fact this place was almost 75% empty on a Sunday morning, while Stacked had people waiting outside on a table, speaks volumes. Unless the Sunset Grill organization drastically sorts the owner and business out quickly, I fear for the future of this restaurant. We definitely won’t be back while this owner is still...
Read moreMy mother and I have been going to Sunset Grill in Wasaga Beach from the time it opened. We've always had amazing service and friendly waiters even when the restaurant was packed full of people. It was our go-to-place for breakfast and anytime time we went somewhere else, we always compared it to Sunset. But today will be the last day we go there.
My mother and I came in for a late breakfast today. The restaurant was busy but not packed. It was just the 2 of us and when we asked for a 4 seater table due my mother disabled and needing some more space the hostess told us no because the restaurant is getting busy and they needs to save it for a group of 4. That was understandable. The hostess sat us down in cramped seating by the window. We waited almost 20 minutes for someone to take our order for drinks. I asked for a straw and waited another 10 minutes before i got it. After that it took another 40 minutes before our food came and it was cold. When I went to pay I didn't tip because of the bad service , only to have the owner/manager ask me "Why didn't you tip your waitress?". I proceed to tell her it was because of the service and other things when she snapped at me and said " IT DOESN'T MATTER!" and then refused to look at me as she processed my bill. I barely started explaining my sentence when she snapped.
First of all it's very rude to ask me if I tipped or not. That is my choice and its not mandatory. If the service is good I will tip accordingly and the same goes if the service is bad. Secondly the owner/managers attitude was disgusting and very insulting me, especially being a long time patron. We will never...
Read moreGuys I’ve come here two days straight.. expecting that the first day may of just been a flaw in the order. So I gave it a second chance and came back to the same overpriced tiny little meal, your eggs are tiny, and over easy means the yolk should drizzle out when you open the top layer… it’s cooked right through like an omelet both times! The bacon had some kinda hard like rock substance in it.. I almost broke my tooth in twice!
When you ask is my food Ok, I just say yes to be nice.. but it’s really just awful. Five stars for the girls! The girls are great, service was decent.. the cook needs a new job, or needs to focus more on quality control and stop telling story’s to his friends in the back.. it’s not story time, it’s time to make some quality breakfast for customers that are paying $30 for 3 eggs. The least you can do is make sure you cook them with love.
I just pride myself in breakfast food and it’s embarrassing when a dedicated breakfast place tastes worst than A&W up the street… even they can cook an over easy egg properly… quiet pathetic.
This extremely generous two star review can change maybe next time I come back to...
