Note: I rarely rate an experience so poorly.
So on the above I will elaborate below.
Upon my arrival at 6:14 pm and entry at 6:18 pm I meet with my family, 7 in total, I'm told that we've been notified there is a 35 minute wait from my aunt who have arrived approximately at 6:10 pm.
Cutting to the point by 7:32 pm we are seated and asked about drinks. (Basing the timeline on my arrival not my families, 1 hr and 14 minutes waiting) Tom the manager who appears to be a very nice fellow offers to discount our meal. That's nice of him, sincerely. Unfortunately the mood for us had changed from happy to unimpressed.
Frankly I personally, could not in good spirits stay and eat as frankly the extra time really dampend my enthusiasm for anything involving this place.
I could have enjoyed a discounted meal and have finished the evening with food on the table likely by 8 pm and finished by 9 pm, but I also could have driven to many other restaurants equally busy and been seated in a more timely fashion, been served and be eating. Let's say 3 hrs, half of which would have been waiting for seats and food. Unacceptable.
I only mention this as we've eaten at Johnny Rocco's in St Catharines and had a larger party with 18 people and Mossimos in Fonthill with 9 people and WITHIN 45 minutes were seated, eating and enjoying our time on both occasions. Same time on Friday nights, walk in and significantly much faster service.
I genuinely hope if I decide to bring anyone to MT Bellies in the future it's a better experience. I hope if I try it that the food is good.
Tonight was a bust and quite disappointing. Again Tom was extremely pleasant for the brief chance we did speak.
Hoping my family enjoyed their meals but upon listening to them at the table before orders were taken, considering this being a special evening for them I do know they were not impressed.
I've submitted a screenshot of my timeline as verification of my times. Reading a few other reviews I'm seeing we're not the only ones who've had a...
Read moreWent for new year’s 12.31.24. Hostess was great, acknowledged us immediately upon entering. Sat in corner under a TV so all eyes were focused on our area. Server was nice but too aggressive with sayings as “my friend” and rushed us. She did not tell us the dinner specials, never mentioned the soup although she did check if a new dinner item was vegetarian. We heard another server tell his table the soup of the day and my guest definitely would have ordered however it was too late. First time ever we were completely disappointed and to be honest disgusted by the meal. Started with a large garden salad to share. When server brought we laughed and said we ordered a large. I’ve seen more lettuce on a buffet table as decor. Not much and their new plates are very, very small making portions with zero depth to them. My guest ordered steak, one of the NYE specials, which he found out about on his own. So much fat, not much potatoes and carrots served with it. He said flavour was ok but again we weren’t dining at a fine steakhouse. I had the mac n cheese. It was absolutely deplorable. Frozen ones are better. Cheese sauce was runny, very watery, not thick, salty, hardly any cheese flavour or cheese at all, pasta was overcooked and breadcrumbs did not do much but tried to add a little panache to the dish. If I owned this restaurant I’d be embarrassed to serve this dish. Came with not toasted, cold “garlic bread”. I could not eat any of it. Server asked how everything was and I told her so she did take off the bill. Maybe restaurant had an off night, so busy due to holiday but we’ve been before when it’s been just as busy. Meal, service (lack of serving training-never offered water or asked to order more drinks or dessert) really put us off. As we were leaving the great hostess said goodbye and thanked us for coming. This young woman showed super customer service. Will not be booking reservations any time soon due to service, portion size, food quality...
Read moreUnfortunately my time wasn’t a pleasant one. We didn’t have the best waiter. The service was slow. Despite it being almost dead on our side the restaurant side or it should be called the cave side considering it was so dark it there. Half way thru dinner the waiters started opening up the curtains and even then it was dark. our waiter didn’t check in to see how our food was didnt need to worry about refills they just leave a jar of water with cups. At the end I finished one of the plates and put my Napkins on it with my sliver-wear which means you’re done ( COMMON SENSE) . She walked past 4 times with her arms empty before taking it. While We waited we could see her small talking the other tables and staff. . MT bellies used to have such great food but I feel like since Covid it’s kinda gone down hill. I ordered the happy hour sliders and I’m sorry but the burger Pattie’s tasted sour and the texture of being a few day old frozen store bought microwaved pat . Also had the load potato, bacon, sour, cheese, chives soup. That’s the ingredients listed there was 4 big chunks of undercooked potato at the bottom I had to break up with my spoon. The cheese on top look like someone aggressively squeezed it on my soup it was all stuck together. NOT MELTED stuck like when u pinch it out a bowl at home. And under that it was full of chunks of ingredients definitely not listed above. And under cooked bacon. Also had the cheeseburger spring rolls. Look I get it. It’s a cheeseburger deep fried basically but once u took a bite it was dripping out onto the plate. Like an over abundance of oil. I believe from the beef inside. Also to top it over ALL the food was room temperature. Overall I don’t think I will be returning. It used to be so good I had birthday parties there when I was a kid. Now it’s just dark and sad...
