My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Caramba Restaurant in Whistler, and our experience left us thoroughly impressed. From the moment we stepped inside the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting the stage for a memorable evening.
Having heard great things about Caramba, I decided to indulge in their burger, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. The burger patty was cooked to perfection, retaining its juiciness and delivering a burst of flavors with each bite. The accompanying toppings and condiments enhanced the overall experience, and the bun was soft and fresh. It's safe to say that Caramba knows how to create a fantastic burger.
My wife, on the other hand, opted for their pizza, and she was not disappointed. The pizza at Caramba was a delightful surprise, with a thin and crispy crust that provided the ideal foundation for the generous portions of toppings. The combination of flavors was well-balanced, and the ingredients were undeniably fresh. It was evident that the kitchen team took pride in crafting their pizzas.
While we thoroughly enjoyed our main courses, what truly impressed us was the level of service we received throughout the evening. The staff at Caramba Restaurant were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They took the time to ensure that all our needs were met, providing recommendations and answering our questions with passion and expertise.
The only reason I have not given a perfect 5-star rating is because of a slight delay in receiving our food. However, the attentive staff kept us informed and apologized for the delay, which minimized any inconvenience caused. Despite this minor hiccup, the exceptional taste and quality of the food more than made up for it.
Overall, our experience at Caramba Restaurant in Whistler was absolutely delightful. The combination of mouthwatering dishes, charming ambiance, and attentive service made for an outstanding dining experience. Whether you're craving a delicious burger or a delectable pizza, Caramba Restaurant is surely a worthy culinary destination in Whistler. We highly recommend paying them a visit and look forward to...
Read moreI'm disappointed that I didn't take pictures of the food to add, but you'll have to take my word for it - it looked as good as it tasted.
I was there on a date with my wife.
She had: a salad to start, the burger as her main, and brownie for desert.
I had: the ricotta to start, their special pasta for a main, and cheesecake for dessert.
Her salad was outstanding, though IMO paled in comparison to the ricotta. I could have had another order of that as my main and yet another for dessert and left happy.
I didn't taste the burger, but it looked good. Their pasta special with fennel sausage was, and I do not exaggerate, the best pasta dish I have had to date. And I have had many. So I didn't regret not ordering another ricotta dish for my main for long.
The brownie was very chocolate forward and delicious and the cheesecake was equally good. I found it funny that while cheesecake is my favorite dessert, I would have exchange it for more ricotta. :D
The service was exceptional. Highly attentive without being overbearing.
Something I want to call out that I don't think I've included in a review before is how the kitchen runs. They have a mainly open kitchen.
My wife and I have discussed previously how it's interesting which restaurants survive and which don't in towns like Whistler and Victoria (where we're from), places with good food can sink. That is not the case here, you can see why they survive and thrive.
It was hands-down one of the best run kitchens and restaurants I have ever seen. Everyone was constantly working, and clearing their stations when they had a moment - but never did I see anyone frantic. The head chef was clear in giving orders, and everyone knew what they needed to do and when - and everything continued to run smoothly when the head chef was not directly giving orders. No one seemed miserable even though they were working hard. It was just incredibly well run.
And that's how you make sure I'll have a new go-to restaurant for a date night in Whistler. I'm not sure why it wasn't on that list already, but I'm sure...
Read moreMy first time in Whistler and it happened to be when restaurants are having their 3-4 course deals. My friend and I decided to check out Caramba for their 3-course for $30 deal. For my 3-course I got the Baby Gem Green Goddess salad - it was very fresh and the flavors were great. For my main I got the Tagliatelle Pesto, which was also very flavorful and didn't feel too heavy. It was a decent portion and as a petite person, I ate about half of it. I got their Triple Cooked Chips as a side. They were a bit on the saltier side but still enjoyed them. My friend got the Calamari a la Plancha and that was delicious. We originally thought it was supposed to come out fried and it wasn't but it was one of our favorites! The 3-course for $30 is definitely worth it!
Our waitress was great - I always appreciate when we can have casual conversations with a server beyond just ordering food to add to the experience.
One other thing I wanted to add to recognize the restaurant is that I had left my purse at the restaurant that night (it had my passport to travel back to the US!) and didn't realize it until the restaurant was already closed. I was freaking out because the restaurant wasn't supposed to open until 5 pm and the following day I was going to check out of our hotel to head back to Vancouver. I ended up leaving the restaurant a voicemail, messaged them on Instagram, and emailed them because my purse had my passport! Thankfully, someone responded to me on Instagram even though it was already around midnight to pass along the message to the staff. The next morning, my friend and I walked by the restaurant and saw some a few people prepping for the day so they graciously opened the door for us and I got my purse back! I really appreciated the communication I received on Instagram and the staff's willingness to open the door for me to get my purse back. Kudos and many thanks to the team for putting my purse aside. That sigh of relief when they handed it to me was a HUGE weight...
