Since the way reviews works on google, I have to put a star. But if I could, I would give them a 0/5 star review since the experience I had at this establishment was so appalling. As I understand New Years Eve can be very hard for bars to control everyone in their establishment, the lack of control and initiative from the Brew House to not only prevent but handle the situation I was in, left me feeling unsafe and violated. Normally I do not post stuff like this, but I do not want other girls to go through what happened to me. The Brew House knows about this incident since we tried numerous times to alert them of what was happening and I have emailed them again today encouraging them to either increase their security on these busy nights or to properly train their staff on how to handle situations like this.
On New Years Eve, I entered the Brew House and immediately went to the bathroom. My friends and I had been there previously that night around 9:30-10:30 and returned around 11:30PM. When I entered the bathroom I got into the stall and noticed two people talking in the stall next to me. The conversation was very sexual and I then realized that it was a guy and a girl having sex in the stall. I tried to hurry as fast as I could to leave as I felt uncomfortable and just as I started to get my clothes back up, the guy in the stall next to me was standing on the toilet and looking over at me. He tried to talk to me numerous times and was clearly very drunk, trying to get me to acknowledge him and did not care that I was trying to get my clothes back on and looked uncomfortable. I left as fast as I could, and told my friends at the time what happened and how violated I had felt. We then watched the girls washroom door for another ten minutes and until they left, watching other girls go in and quickly leave because they felt uncomfortable. When my friend went to tell one male employee what had happened, he did nothing. The offender continued to stay in the Brewhouse, falling to the floor and laying on the floor as if he was unconscious, because he was so drunk. After this my two friends confronted him and he started to push them around and yell at me, but still security and the staff did nothing. Then as a group, we went to tell the same male employee again, the situation and that’s when another male employee approached us and said that he knew who we were talking about, but still nothing was done. Overall, this experience was extremely emotionally traumatic for me and I expected better from such a well known establishment to be better equipped to handle these situations. I left the Brewhouse after all this happened and the offender, to my knowledge, had not be detained or kicked out.
Establishments serving liquor in British Columbia are liable for the actions of their patrons, especially on when they are on their premises and especially when they have over served them. It was the failure of many of the employees at the Brewhouse that resulted in this...
Read moreThis place is optimized for profitability at the cost of a good experience. The staff are trained to churn thought customers fast, sell them more than what they came in for, and have them leave the establishment as quickly as possible to open the table for the next group. This is a place for the one off whistler visitors, who get fooled with the word Brew in their name. Regulars, and locals hardly ever go there... Food is mediocre, I consider it over priced for the quality.
if you're still reading, here is what happened to us: when our party got there asking for a table with a few of us not present and on their way, they covered a long list of rules. So we respectfully sat outside in the cold, drinking a beer and waiting till we meet all the criteria that they mentioned to get a table so we eat inside. When I followed up with someone who acted like a manager, by the name of Noni, she reiterated the rules and mentioned we'd still be waiting at least another half an hour. I made a wise ass comment about how the rules are more complicated than getting a mortgage, she said: "with the at attitude, I'm adding another 15 minutes to you wait". I kid you not, she said that. Anyways, we paid for what we had and we left to go to a decent place. But guess what? They had added an 18% gratuity to our bill, didn't tell us, and some of us (being Canadian and all) tipped on top of it!! That hurts!!
When we left, I thanked them for their hospitality. She said, I'm just doing my job. Which is true, she is. It's the owners and management that have optimized the place to get as much money from the tourists that are visiting whistler. I understand, it's the name of the game... That's why locals and regular whistler visitors...
Read moreHad a great evening in Whistler, went to Sushi Village for dinner then Brew House for a drink with friends and family visiting for our wedding from the UK. Service was slow as they were short staffed, but it was good once drinks arrived. The sad part was when the bills came out, I didn’t notice as a friend was getting my bill for me. However the server in the pool/snooker bar section (male) had instructed my friends that it was an auto grat of 20% for groups of 6+. He proceeded to tell me when questioned that this and 22% were now normal in Whistler in places like and Sushi village as an example. To which I replied, “we have just been to sushi village with 10 of us and there was no auto grat though we all tipped the regular 15% as the service was good”. Buddy realised he had been called out for trying to scrounge a few extra dollars out of the Brits and shied away I said to him that he was being a bit cheeky and that I have lived in Whistler for 12 years so I know what I’m talking about. Buddy thought he had a group of tourists and so was trying to rinse my friends to line his pockets. Sad to see this. Shame on your man, but I guess he got his 20% so...
