Update: I would increase my review from my original 2 stars to 4 based on the timely follow up response and refund provided by the spa. However I feel that itâs important for people to know what to honestly expect in regards to the actual services rendered. Furthermore during the follow up phone call I was repeatedly told that the âmountain recoveryâ massages main focus is for relaxation and not for any actual muscle tension work or relief. I was told that a Swedish massage would need to be scheduled to achieve the âdeepâ pressure I was after and that means if you want to feel any pressure at all during the massage than schedule a Swedish massage.
I booked a 75 minute mountain recovery massage which clearly states in the description âChoose from a light, medium or firm pressureâ and âto help relieve muscle aches and joint painsâ. This was the farthest thing from the truth and honestly one of the least effective massages I have received to date. Thank goodness I have a professional work on me routinely back home and that none of my muscles were actively seizing. The only redeeming factors were the heated blankets, the menthol infused cream, alycias great attitude and the fact I have an appointment booked once I return back home. I had alycia work on me who isnât listed on their employee biography web site page and I would suggest asking for Natalie or Jennifer who list that they specialize in body work.
Much to my horror Alycia told me that she wasnât licensed or trained to give any deep/firm pressure as she is mainly an Esthetician, but this was far too late into the massage. I foolishly kept hoping this was a massage that started out light and would evolve into a firmer finishing pressure. I repeatedlt insisted that she give a firmer pressure to no avail. Despite filling out âpre medical sheetâ and telling her of my ongoing current treatment areas she didnât do anything in regards to what I listed on the sheet or verbally told her. She had a great attitude and the overall experience was soothing to the senses but not to my muscles.
Donât waste your time or money without specifying you want someone trained in deep tissue/sports massage unless you want to feel as if someone is simply running their fingers lightly over you. Granted Alycia has a lot of years of experience in the spa type industry but I wouldnât say she is equipped to handle the type of sports massage that is needed for skiing and...
Read moreMy partner and I booked a last minute appointment at the spa and it was amazing!! They had a great deal on Swedish Massages (compared to other spas in whistler, the price was insanely good). For my massage I had Pan and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. For reference, I get RMT massages often because I have chronic pain on the right side of my neck and in my right upper trap muscles. I arrived to the massage feeling quite sore and stiff and by the end of it I was feeling greatâTotal reset! She used the perfect amount of pressure and I was super relaxed the entire time.
The only downside was the change room. We opted to use the pool/ hot tub/ sauna after our massages and so we kept all our stuff in the change rooms. Unfortunately, I felt like there wasnât enough privacy. There is a big curtain that separates the door+toilets from the shower+lockers. To keep the lockers accessible for others, I only half closed the big curtain while I was in the shower. But while I was in the shower, the curtain covering my stall didnât fully reach the dividing glass between shower stalls therefore leaving a gap between my shower and the shower next to me and a small opening for when people walked in to get to the lockers. I was a bit paranoid about someone walking in while I was showering but luckily no one did! It does seem to be really quiet in the change room space so it might not be a concern for others. All in all, I would definitely come again and I would definitely...
Read moreThilia!! Thilia!!! Omg! Went to the Whistler Day Spa today and had the 100 minute Tranquility Ritual spa package with Thilia. I had asked her for a more âfirmâmassage pressure and boy did she deliver!! She was absolutely AMAZING & an extremely talented therapist. In the past I have often been disappointed by massages in general because Iâll ask for firm pressure, but really end up getting just a light back rub (not an actual massage). Today however, I was beyond happy with the pressure & service I received with Thilia! She managed to seriously work out the knots in my muscles yet simultaneously make everything so soothing & relaxing! She gave me an amazing experience complete with sugar scrub, aromatherapy, full body massage (where she workout out some major knots in my shoulders, neck, & back), and then gave me a heavenly scalp massage & facial. It is true what a few other reviews have mentioned: the spa itself isnât a super luxury experience so if you go in with those expectations you may be disappointed. However, I thought the space was simple, cute and clean. The bottom line is the massages. This was one of the best massages I have ever had & I highly recommend Thilia! Canât wait to go back &...
