This was the first time in my life having leukwarm ramen with undercooked noodles that tasted like gum, and tofu that was frozen on the inside. The entire point of ramen is for the heat of the soup to warm you up from inside.
If you like cold ramen, and bad attitude in server then this is your place. After we gave our feedback, they offered to warm up the soup by microwave! Awesome, should have brought my own food to heat up while we are it.
There was no apology. The original server was defensive about the cold ramen and said that I was the way it is done in Japan to put cold toppings and too bad about the soup being cold. Then gave some passive aggressive face- not sure why, he wasn’t the cook. But he also messed up the order, forgot the tea, and then did not put the right noodles inside and we had to wait for the right order. Off shoulder Whistler season, so sub par service I guess? The woman server was better and tried but still…
Soup flavor isn’t bad, but service, attitude is appalling, and the way they serve it is just unacceptable. Hopefully they will improve, or not, as they seem pretty defensive about the whole thing, when given helpful feedback. Red flag: if a place uses microwave instead of offering to make a brand new one or cooking in the pot, it says alot about the establishment. The little grocery store next door is good though, so if you are here I highly recommend you go to Fuji market and get their miso soup to go, and other delicious Japanese to go food. Waayyyyy better value and cold food is cold and hot food is hot, with service with a...
Read moreありがとう !! Ultimate RAMEN, OH MY! Creamy Miso Vegan Ramen.. say no more. This joint is dope! Love it! First off, the aesthetics of this place is a great vibe, authentic and real laid back. Staff are great.. super friendly, approachable and extremely talented at serving incredible grub with efficient service. A fantastic location in the heart of Blackcomb village and the ultimate post snowboarding hot meal. Great recommendation from the server as I was debating between Vegan options. The Creamy Miso Vegan Ramen is rad, super tasty and incredibly yummy. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, great flavoring whilst not being too salty at all. The shitake inside the Ramen tastes so good, words cannot describe. This is honestly one of the best Ramens I have had in Greater Vancouver and Whistler, this joint is my new go to for sure. They have a great range of delicious vegan options, love it. I love spicy food and sauces so had to try the house hot sauce, 10/10.. perfect. An awesome balance of garlic and heat with great aroma. So good, I was even treated to an extra portion to take home!! We also got a veggie gyoza which tasted incredible. Extremely fresh and homemade tasting like soft dough goodness. The ultimate Japanese comfort food. They also have a killer Fujiya Foods next door selling some super tasty delicious Japanese goods. Support local...
Read moreNice quiet little ramen spot that's not on the Village Stroll. Attached to Fuji Market (take out food here was great - onigiri and mochi = yum)and another Japanese restaurant that only sells sushi and sashimi. We had the Vegan Garlic Miso with chicken karaage. Portions were decent. Noodles were plentiful and good. The vegan comes with tofu and veg so you don't need to order additional toppings like the other noodles soup dishes. The reason for the four stars is because while the soup itself is hot, the toppings are ice cold. Not even luke warm. We got the egg and shitaki mushrooms as add ons, and it's like they came from the freezer. But the spinach in the soup was ice cold too = yuck. We had interactions w two waitresses - one was lovely and chatty, the other meh. When i asked about the cold toppings, the lovely one said that is how it is served in Japan. And our response was "don't think so".We have been all over japan many, many times. not once were we served cold toppings on hot ramen soup. She did say next time, just let them know that we would prefer the toppings be warmed up & they would be happy to do that. Ambience was nice. Very reminiscent of eating ramen at the restaurants in the Yokohama Ramen museum. Prices were pretty fair - this is Whistler after all. Enjoyed this spot and we...
