Night Owl Kitchen + Bar — Restaurant in White Rock

Had a pretty good experience at the Night Owl last night. Went with a group of 6 for their wings special which was great value! Made a reservation by phone but unfortunately when we got there they said that they made a mistake and our table was not ready so we had to wait 20 minutes for it.

Despite the mishap, the hostess was very kind and polite in addressing the issue. The server was also very friendly and accomodating for us and was constantly checking in to make sure we had our food and drinks, despite how busy the restaurant was.

In regards to the food itself, we tried all the flavours of wings and the majority of them were pretty tasty. Our only piece of feedback for the menu would be that they needed more dry flavours as 6/8 of the flavours were all wet wings, and we know that there are many people who prefer dry over wet.

The bar was clean, had TVs for watching sports, and the ambience was good.

Was really excited to try this spot out but sadly the food and service were a huge disappointment. The hostess sat us down for our 7pm dinner reservation and our first impression was from her letting us know that nothing in the “mains” section of the menu were being served. Mind you this is a Saturday on a long weekend.

After sitting at our table for over 10 minutes without any server showing up or even waters, we had to flag the hostess down again to ask if a server was coming. The server who arrived seemed uninterested, not even as much as a “how are you.” Drinks came about 20 mins in to sitting down and the server spilled beer on a chair at our table, and just left it there? Our appetizer nachos arrived completely stale… the quality of food was dismal. We decided to ask for our bill and not order the rest of dinner there.

Sadly would not return. Seems poorly managed and that the staff are either very badly training or...

As a local east beach resident I was so very excited for this place to open. The atmosphere was awesome. Lighting, view, big tv’s and the general vibe inside. Our drinks were also really good. However, our water glasses were filled at the start and never again. We are positive the burger had a Kraft single for cheese on it, and the bowl was good but boring. A heap of rice with some greens on one side, chicken and avocado on the other and then drizzled in chipotle - the calamari was good but very battered. Fries were basically McCain shoelace type & not hot. I was disappointed in both service and food to the point that I’m apprehensive in going again, especially to recommend to friends when they come and we are trying to find a spot to eat. I’m willing to give it another try in a month or so hoping my experience was just because they are new...
