As someone with Mexican heritage, I never expected to find a home away from home all the way out in the Yukon. Antoinette’s has a certain air of latin authenticity that I don’t usually find when I travel more north than, say, San Fransisco. While dining, a diverse mix of hispanic music played on the speakers, a lot of which I listened to during my childhood. The restaurant was cozy, and the staff incredibly friendly. This restaurant has a little bit of everything! The menu was huge; full of international dishes from Australia to the Caribbean. It also boasts a massive vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free section for those with dietary restrictions. I decided to go simple: a Yukon Brewery IPA (Ice Fog) with the Three Sisters Stew (since I was so far away, and missed my two younger sisters). The stew completely blew me out of the water. I’m mostly vegetarian, but our server recommended I try it with an elk meatball, and it was sumptuous. My vegan friend ordered the Vegan Meat and Seafood in Coconut & Orange Curry, which was delicious. The spices were perfect, and built in a slow heat as they ate. My other friend ordered the elk meatballs, which were equally tasty! However, I think I really “won” dinner with the Three Sisters Stew. It was hearty, delicious, and filling. For dessert, we had the beer ice cream with pretzels (which turned out to be pretzel sticks), and the Vegan Mixed Fruit in Ginger Coconut cream. All of it was delicious. If you ever find yourself in the capital of the Yukon, I cannot recommend Antoinette’s enough. We plan on coming back for the Sunday Brunch, and I can’t wait!

I have only one regret about eating at Antoinette's. The fact that I only ate here once. I stumbled into this restaurant as I had 40 minutes between meetings. I had not heard of it, but it was close to my hotel and I was intrigued by the pictures outside. I had no idea how much I was going to love my meal here. First the decor inside is vibrant and rustic. With the bright colours and the wood furniture, it gave me the impression that I was in another country. Next, when I looked at the menu, I realized I was in another world. They featured a mix between local and international dishes. I was torn when I had to pick one. Until it came out. I was amazed by the presentation. I could not help but take a picture and within seconds I found these delicacies floating into my mouth. The dish was exquisite. When people asked me what the highlight of my trip to Whitehorse was, I tell them my meal at Antoinette's. I wanted to come back here the next night, but I did not become available until it was closed. I may never eat another meal here, but knowing I had one, I can die happy. If you are in Whitehorse, you need to eat at Antoinette's.

I ordered the vegan watermelon and carrot curry but what I received was not what was described on the menu. I got watermelon in red sauce with maybe 10 black beans over rice, with some salad greens. There was no carrot tasted or visible, no garlic turnover and the salad was not the proper salad with couscous. I don't think the salad even had a dressing. At first when it arrived, I was disappointed because I had forgotten to order shrimp with it, but then realized watermelon wasn't the only reason I ordered the dish, so I looked up the menu online to check I wasn't crazy. There were two very pleasant waiters working. I called one over and said that what I recieved was delicious but it wasn't quite right. I described was what missing and the waiter acted apologetic but wouldn't quite let me finish or tell me what he was doing and walked away so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. A different waiter (whom had taken our order originally) came by and asked us how the food was. I gently mentioned the problem to him but like the other waiter he acted apologetic but wouldn't quite let me finish or tell me what he was doing and walked away. The first waiter I explained the problem to came back a short while later with the garlic turnover and a parsley tomato salad (no couscous). One of the waiters explained it was a menu item less popular so the chef forgot what's in it. I went up fully planning to kindly ask for a discount, but when I got up to the area to pay, there was a sign asking for patience as they were shortstaffed. I ended up paying full price and leaving a 20% tip, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth (metaphorically). I am pregnant and have been drooling over the menu but my husband doesn't like the restaurant so I had to convince him to go. The food we were served was good, but not what was described on the menu. The staff was friendly, but I do not feel the issue was adequately resolved. There is a saying that too complex a menu is a red flag for a restaurant, and I can't help but feel this may be...

Took my 16yrs old daughter for a dinner date, our 1st here since the new owners. We’d looked forward to it all week, sadly the service was not good. We were the 2nd table occupied, 6 customers in total. 1st, ordered two of the same drink, both virgin versions, one drink had rum and was missing all the added items. 2nd, when my daughter’s surf and turf arrived they provided a steak knife, I requested napkins and utensils. I believe it was the owner, said yes, and proceeded to go work on something behind the cash till/bar. Before he’d walked away, he asked what I had ordered. She ate her fries while we waited for utensils. 3rd, I waved our actual waiter over when he came out of hiding and asked for napkins and utensils, looking confused, I asked two more times. He brought some, with our empty glasses sitting at the end of the table with an empty water bottle, we needed to request more water. 4th, my daughter’s steak, 35-30% was fat, the fat hadn’t been rendered at all. The entire lobster tail was not cut, making it very difficult to access all of the meat, she gave up. 5th, 3-4 minutes after my daughter finished her meal and moved the plate to the end of the table, my meal arrived. I told, again who I believe to be the owner, that we were done, we were leaving and no I was not taking the meal or making my daughter wait 1/2 hour or so while I ate my meal. This was difficult for me because I was hungry, and the dish looked wonderful and I’d waited just over an hour for it. 6th, paying for our - my daughter’s meal; (1) I was charged full price for a virgin drink, (2) menu showed $45, they charged $50. I took the waiter while paying that all plates should be served together, we came to share a meal and we did not come for take out. One would think that with us being the 2nd table we’d have a good chance of (a) eating together, (b) or just being able to eat with the assistance of the 3 staff on site. Upside, we enjoyed the music, and it was quiet enough to hear our...

Where do I begin.... we made reservations about 5 weeks in advance upon booking our trip to Whitehorse with the reviews for Antoinette's being so good. Received our emailed confirmation for dinner for two promptly. Fast forward to yesterday the evening of our reservation. As we opened the door to Antoinette's a young girl behind the counter yelled "No walk-ins!". Odd way to greet guests. Despite this rudeness, my wife and I proceeded to the counter where I said that we actually have reservations for tonight and proceeded to show them. The reservation number on my phone. She said there is no where for us to sit as they were busy with a tour group. She went and got her parents. Her mother asked us if we were walk-ins and we again showed them our reservation. Her father then joined us all up at the counter and offered for us to either sit at the bar or at a counter by the front door. Weird. We again stated that we had reservations for a table. They finally found a small table for us on the other side of the restaurant. On the website they state that they have a great cocktail menu that is open all day so we proceeded to order drinks. We were quickly told that they were not serving any cocktails tonight as they were too busy. We had two choices from the specials or beer or wine. As soon as we got our drinks they asked us to hurry up and order so that we could get our food before the tour group ordered. Again feeling rushed we ordered an appetizer and were told that all the appetizers were sold out accept for the one item that was on the specials for the day. We ordered that as well as our mains. Our mains came with no appetizer which we inquired about. We were told they ran out of that special too. My main, Rattan Padta was good however my wife's Spicey Pork was cold and incomplete as they must have ran out of some ingredients. Overall a terrible experience and we will...
