Dragon River Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Recently my friend circle decided that we would be doing a chinese food roulette event: every 2 weeks we will select a new chinese restaurant in town and order dishes. Our first entry was Dragon River; and, let me tell you, they did not disappoint! The quality of ingredients is amazing, especially for the price! BIG, FRESH vegetables. BIG, juicy and succulent meat (the pork in the cantonese chow mein being a prime example!). What really impressed my group was that every dish was cooked to perfection and traveled well (relatively close delivery). Not a single item was 'dry' (you all know how sometimes the breaded/fried chinese dishes can get pretty dry). The flavours of every sauce was intense, yet nuanced. Dishes that we ordered: The crispy fried squid with spicy salt Kung po shrimp* Cantonese chow mein Ginger beef Szechuan beef Beef & Broccoli Beef Hofan White rice (included with purchase)

Each member of my group agree that Dragon River has set an incredibly high bar for our chinese roulette!

*Kung po shrimp was heavy on peanuts. This doesn't effect my group; but, people with nut/legume allergies should exercise extreme caution...

As a former Winnipegger now living in Ottawa, we did some research on the best chinese food during our visit in September and found this little gem "Dragon River" on Sargent Ave in Winnipeg. Well, I must state: this has been the best chinese food we've eaten in Ottawa or Winnipeg in a decade or more. From the lightly breaded lemon chicken(the best) to the pan fried garlic shrimp(amazing) and the mushroom fried rice that had almost more mushrooms than rice(very close). The family that operates this 5 star chinese food restaurant were extremely friendly & polite. The young son greeted us at the door who was like 12 years old. This restaurant is rated 4.5 stars which is my "bar" for reviews and it delivered spot on. This will be our go to restaurant when we land in Winnipeg and will tell the world about this little gem...Simply Amazing". I wish we could order from Ottawa,...

I think this the 10th time our family has ordered from Dragon River. All the items ordered always come fresh, hot and tasty your paying top dollar for a high end foodie experience! Shrimp Dumplings Very well made perfect on all levels! Come with small container of chili oil to kick the heat up to enhance the over all experience of a party in your mouth.
