I have been going to Viva’s restaurant for years. I absolutely love it. It’s consistently good. My favorite is the deluxe wonton soup. The broth they use in absolutely incredible. Vermicelli bowls are great too as are the rice wraps and spring rolls. You can also order Chinese-food type options that tend to be much higher quality that many other Chinese-food options in the city (i.e., meat is better quality, dishes are less greasy, sauces are more flavourful). The restaurant is family run and the staff are great. There are a number of photos on the wall that family members have taken and framed from their travels around the world. And, to tie it all together, the food is very reasonably priced which keep people coming back over and over again!

We had the special pho (soupe) with rare beef, beefballs and tripe and the grilled chicken bun (rice noodle bowl) as well as the fresh salad roles as an appetizer. The place looked clean and the walls looked freshly painted or just very clean. The service was a little slow, we were there after the lunch rush. The bun was fresh and tasty the pho was missing some flavor. The taste got better at the end of the soupe, maybe the spice mixture was sitting at the bottom of the bowl. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. However compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the city I was missing the deep flavor of the pho. The salad roles had a good amount of pork in them, but very little shrimp.

Great restaurant. Really loved the Beef Vermicelli dish. Fresh cucumber and lettuce mixed with vermicelli noodles. Delicious sautéed beef. Would totally recommend this dish to anyone. The Hot and Sour Soup had a great mix of ingredients- pork, mushrooms and bamboo shoots to name a few. We also ordered the Chicken and Cashew dish and enjoyed it. It was a busy friday evening and the restaurant was almost full. Great service. Staff were friendly and attentive. If you like Thai and Vietnamese cuisine - would recommend trying this restaurant out.

have decided to try this restaurant out for the first time and seeing all the great reviews, we were excited!

We walk in and no one greets us. The man with short black hair was on the ipad/screen while the waitress is quiet.

I proceed to ask if dining in is available and without even making eye contact with us the man goes “yep”. Complete silence after that. Then the waitress finally decides to point at a table and says “that one”. Still no proper greeting.

As we are sitting there the man still doesnt acknowledge us and the waitress whispers to him “does this water look good”. The man finally answers her after a few times of her asking and says “why you asking me for” then continues on the ipad.

We got up and left. Horrible horrible services. We wish we could of tried the food. It just...

I'm from Calgary and have Pho on a pretty regular basis as there are tons to choose from back home. The noodle soup here is definitely one of the best I've ever had. Also ordered the spring rolls which were one of a kind and absolutely delicious. Doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is very nice. Super friendly staff and very reasonable prices. No complaints whatsoever.

Edit: Went back for round two a week later, Phuong greeted me and remembered exactly what I ordered last time! Tried the salad rolls this time. Delicious as expected. Incredible food and service, would give Viva more stars if I could.

Edit 2: Back after not being in Winnipeg for 2 years. I think their beef broth tastes even better...
