Firehouse Subs Winnipeg St. Vital — Restaurant in Winnipeg

Placed an order online and gave it a 30 minute lead time. When I arrived, I was told it would still be "a few minutes ". If I had known that my pickup time seemed to be their start time to make the subs. From ordering to pickup ended up being 45 minutes. Why bother pre-ordering? The poor girl at the cash was trying her best. There didn't seem to be any rush by the staff making the food however. As for the atmosphere, it was tense. There was a line of frustrated people ahead of me. While the food was excellent, the rest of the experience was subpar. UPDATE: The day after the review, I received a call from the owner. I was expecting a cookie cutter response online to my post at best. I was pleasantly surprised at his genuine concern that I was unsatisfied with the experience. This was my first time ordering a sub from the restaurant, and it wasn’t the best experience.

The staff were wonderful and working extremely hard but the service was horrible. I waited 25 minutes for my order (one sub). There were customers who ordered after me that received their food before I did - which makes no sense. A couple in front of me had to change their order to take out from dine in, due to the long wait and their lunch break being over.

The sub itself was tasty - though the Italian dressing used on it pooled at the bottom of the take out container leaving the sub with a soggy bun. Not what I’d expect for being toasted.

Edit: I spoke with the owner about this review and decided to visit another location (on Sterling Lyon) and had a much more positive experience. I've kept my review here to reflect my experience at the st vital location, but will visit the Sterling Lyon one again.

The tables at the restaurant were dirty. We ordered takeout and didn't realize that both subs weren't to order until we got home. One was asked for with no tomatoes, and the other was missing half the ingredients the sandwich is meant to come with (a brisket hat trick, missing turkey, ham, and slaw).
