We were a group of four and had a mixed experience...
My sweet Mongolian udon with vegan chicken was really quite good, I thought! I appreciate they have at least a few vegan options!! My friends said their meat chicken was kind of rubbery and rice was overcooked and kind of dry. One friend didn't realize the orange chicken is only chicken and rice (no veggies), so that should probably be made clearer. One order with extra protein was still honestly barely any chicken, I think we counted 6 small pieces, and the server confirmed it was with extra added. That was really stingy!
Two combos, one with extra protein and one sumo size, came to over $50. To be fair, everything is expensive now. But it stung later seeing a sign for a Saturday deal of two combo meals for $29---I guess we could have had to know about the deal before we ordered (the sign was hidden in the seating area). Yes, it was Saturday when we went.
Service wasn't great... when we came in, we weren't acknowledged for several minutes. I think they were just finishing the supper rush (about 7:30pm). They seemed busy cooking, but still I feel they should have at least acknowledged us and said they needed a few minutes. Another man came in behind us, so a line was forming... We realized there was a bell and dinged it but it was pretty quiet. The man behind us finally left after a few more minutes of nothing. A few more minutes later they finally made eye contact and indicated they needed some more time. It really did take a long time though before they came up to talk, and the long wait was awkward and uncomfortable. Maybe they need more staff, or better training?
They bring you the dishes to your seats (if you're dining in), which was nice. The bowls were nice, and the chopsticks, but the only other cutlery is cheap plastic forks and a tiny shallow spoon if you got soup. My friend was able to get sriracha free but oddly was told she would have to to pay to get hoisin (she had to go up and pay to get some, after being served).
I might visit again for my meal, if I have time to wait, and I'm in the area, but my friends definitely would not. Our overall experience didn't match the high rating here on Google. They advertise on the tables that if you rate them on Google you can get a deal next time you visit (the text doesn't say you need to give 5 stars, but the ad shows five stars in the image, implying an expectation). I'm sorry to say it makes me wonder if their rating here is...
Read moreWalking into Wok Box, the restaurant was clean and well lit with lots of space to move around while having plenty of seating. The gentleman at the front repeated my order back to me to make sure our order was correct and brought it to our table when it was ready. The food was hot and had very appetizing presentation. We ordered the Dan Dan and the Crispy Chicken and both were delicious. The Dan Dan is spicy and full of flavour, if not a little too spicy for mine and my partner's personal preference. The crispy chicken is my go to and I love it every time, and at this location it was a perfect ratio of chicken to rice to sauce, where it was juicy and full of flavour while still having a nice crisp crackle when biting into the breaded chicken. When I asked for a box, I mentioned the spice level of the Dan Dan and the gentleman at the front recommended the Singapore Cashew sauce what has a lower heat rating than the sauce that's in the Dan Dan, while still offering a nice kick and mending well with the other flavours of the meal.
The music and the art on the wall offered a nice atmosphere that was relaxing while still being energetic. I realized we had sat closer to the speakers than intended, but even with that the music was only mildly louder than what I personally find comfortable. The space felt very sensory friendly, with a nice texture on the seats and tables as well as good-textured bowls that are higher on one side, what I like as I can bring the bowl back without getting my hands messy.
This location is great and I will happily...
Read moreWow this place is BAD, I would love to give this place a ZERO star!!!! We tried this place for dinner, we paid 2 large 1 regular butter chicken meal with a butter chicken wrap. $50 pick up. It’s really bad. Firstly when I went there pick up and paid for my food. The cashier told me a totally different HIGHER price than the subtotal I got online. Gladly I caught him and questioned him about it then he gave me unreasonable excuses becuase on his screen it’s showing him 2 different prices. He so decided to charge me and attempted to charge me for the HIGHER price! I showed him my online receipt and told him that’s not the right price, and for sure I won’t be going back for the dishonestly, very poor quality and quantity of food. The butter chicken is not butter chicken is some weird combination of yellow sauce with over cooked chicken with very small amount of sauce with rice. With the higher price he is going to charge me this is a red flag for me and the bad taste of food and quality of poor. I don’t suggest anyone go to this place, even you want to try it out please don’t go...
