My girlfriend and I walked into Tapps at approximately 945 pm. All the tvs were focused on the women's world hockey championship game between Canada and the US in OT. Our server, Jamie in the midst of this took time to say hi and said she would be right with us to take our order. In the next few seconds canada scored and won the game. While the rest of the bar cheered Jamie, jubilanty returned to our table. She then asked for our order to which I informed her that I was blind and loved craft beer and asked her if she would select one and bring it to me. She did so and once returning described exactly where she was placing the beer and asked me if there was anything else I needed. Throughout my stay I ordered wings and more beer. Each time she conveyed exactly what she was doing and the exact placement of each item she brought. Each time her effervescent personality shone through. There have been very few establishments where I found a server who takes the time to recognize my disability and go above and beyond in the attempt to serve me with the same dignity that she does to any other customer. Jamie truly warmed my heart and made me understand what it's like to be accepted in your establishment. Previous to my visual condition I spent more than 2 decades in the hospitality/night club/bar/lounge industry and found it next to impossible to find people like her with the integrity, respect, and compassion like with what I found in Jamie. I hope that you appreciate Jamie as an employee as much I, as a customer, grew to, in the short interaction we had. She is truly special and I look forward to nothing more than seeing her again on my next visit. If you would like to discuss anything further please respond to this review and I would be more than happy to provide you with my personal correspondence to continue further. Thank...
Read moreI tried to convince my nephew to go down the rd to the local bar and he did not want to go, your mistake I said, I walked down the road myself, I sat at the bar and ordered a rye and coke ,scanned the area and was greeted by the short fat little waitress observing me, as if I should be moving on, hard to explain but the greeting was not genuine, Im not one to quit weird looks or peoples shrugnness, at least this is how it felt after ten seconds of interaction ,I have a life time of bar shame under my belt, so I assumed it must be me being rude, I thought Id try and make a go. 1st thing she asked is if I was ready to order, Im sorry a bar named Tappes spelles out drink , not eat, but whatever, I ordered a hot hamburger meal that she assured me was very hot to the mouth...liar, I tried to start a conversation and was very quickly dismisssed, not even a freindly " dont bother me" , so I sat there for ten minutes at the bar paid my cheque and left. It s a very rude little bar and I can believe they have left a short fat little waitress with attitude in charge who on my worst day would not find attractive in any way, one of these new age women who feel it is alright to talk down to men. Makes them feel powerful I suppose. Anyways just a shout out to any one who wants to go there be prepared to be ignored by people that you would find repulsive in any...
Read moreI Would Not Recommend This Restaurant.... I came here for lunch with 5 co-workers, and had the reuben sandwich with fries for $17.50 which I think was way over priced in comparison to other restaurants where I have ordered this same sandwich. To top that off, I wasn't able to substitute my fries for a side salad when I asked, and I would have had to pay an extra $7.00 for the salad on top of the $17.50 without the fries; figure that one out. The server also only brought 3 menus to our table for 6 people, and when we asked for more menus we were told that they didn't have any more. I could see that would be a problem if the restaurant was packed, but there was only one other gentleman eating lunch at the time, and the restaurant was empty. I am not sure what the server would have done if all the tables were full; would the diners have had to wait until other people in the restaurant were finished with their menus? My lunch partners were great, but unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at Tapp's, and will not...
