Extreeeeeeeemley slow service and bland food. This is my new least favourite sushi restaurant in the city.

Was seated at a dirty table and told it would be cleaned right away. Except, it wasn't. We waited over 20 minutes and no one came back, we had to flag someone down to clean the table. He brought us water, mine had ice and was cold but my friend's was warm with no ice. He then mentioned our server would be right with us.

We waited another 20 or so minutes, still no server. I went up to the front counter and asked if they were short staffed, the girl said yes then asked if we hadn't received our food yet. I explained we haven't even received menus or know who our server is (we'd been there around 45 minutes so far). She apologized and said she'd be right with us...5+ minutes later, she finally dropped off menus.

We ordered our food, then waited and waited. Another group, who arrived after us, received their order first - a large wooden boat filled with sushi - while my friend and I continued to wait.

Food eventually arrived and was perhaps the most bland and flavorless sushi I've ever had. The rolls were made/cut very large, making them very awkward to eat. My end pieces were so massive, there was no way I could ever hope to eat them without a fork and knife. I'm not one to send food back unless there's a major issue with it which, in this case, there wasn't...it was just really bland .

After finishing, we again waited and waited for our plates to be taken away. The server eventually came back and asked if we were finished, we both said yes. She asked if I wanted a box for my end pieces, I said no...she replied "okay" and then walked away...leaving our dishes.

The original bus boy eventually came over, asked the exact same questions as the server. We repeated our answers, we are done and don't want boxes.

We eventually received our bill, paid for our food and left.

This simple meal took well over 2 hours, much of that time was waiting with near-zero communication from staff. The server rarely checked on us and, while I understand what it's like to be short staffed, they could have at least had the decency to check on us more often - it takes 2 seconds! There was lots of apologizing but no action to improve our...

Customer service was just bad. Okay so me and my friend got there, went ahead to find a seat for ourselves because the girl on the till was busy laughing around with some cook in the back. She saw us walked in and took seats, but ignored us. We waited 10 mns to be helped (giving us the menu, water, etc.). Then my friend and I finished browsing the menu in about 10-15 mns. So when we turned around to finally tell them we're ready, they were out of sight (all the staff). There were no one in the kitchen nor the till. We waited 25 minutes for the girl to actually come back and check on us. So the girl took our order, and then I noticed that the cooks were still not in the kitchen, she finally called them 15 minutes after we took our order. We were not taken care of at all in this restaurant. No one asked how our food was nor fill up our water or any service at all. The only thing I like in this restaurant is their Shrek Roll and that's pretty much it. Won't be coming back for a while because of the bad customer service. I hope they will do something about this. (I was gonna take a picture of a girl who was working on the till but I didn't because I didn't want to...

I really don't like to complain about restaurants. I don't. And I rarely do. But the experience here was truly awful. Ordered on the website app for pickup. Showed up. The place was in disarray: one table served and otherwise empty, and Skip and other delivery services waiting three deep. Was told my order would take an addition 25 minutes. I complained about this. Lots of apologies, but I was not going to let that go. While the owner helped roll my order (which was a large one), I watched, with disgust, the front counter staff completely over their heads. They had no idea how to put together orders, and the counters were gross. Food scraps laying about, trays piled high with used orders, food being touched without washing hands in advance and no gloves -it was unhygienic and really gross. Finally, when they put it all in two bags, I had to go through it with them TWICE to make sure the order was complete. They threw in an order of Edamame (microwaved in front of me.) The food was ok. But I will NEVER go back there. You safety and cleanliness of the place was just...

No idea how this place has more than 4 stars. Ordered delivery and every roll was a waste Beach - 0 crab, all bakudan filling Philadelphia roll - there's a whisper/fingernail of salmon in this. It's actually maddening to look at this picture again. I could have bought a full brick of cream cheese and a cucumber and have money left over on this cream cheese/cuc roll Unagi roll - hard avocado, filled with more crumbs, barely see the eel California - hard unripened avocado again.. Had about a $60 order and this picture shows the miniscule amount of wasabi/ginger given I don't know if this was a thing where they know it's a delivery order and they can roll the customer over knowing they can't directly complain or if this is the normal quality of their sushi but there are a billion other sushi places in the city that deserve your patronage more than this place.

A cool little place to satisfy your sushi craving. Fish tasted mostly fresh and the sushi was average. The price is very reasonable and you can really afford to order a few dishes to try without worrying too much about the bill. Their quantity is pretty good, particularly for the salmon teriyaki with stir fry we ordered. The two salmon pieces were on the bigger side and the rice and veggy quantity was actually more than one person can finish. Staff are polite and friendly and we liked their service. The place has a modern and trendy vibe geared more towards the younger crowd. The music felt a little too loud. They also gave us free icecream for dessert! I'll probably be coming back here to try their nigiri and udon.

As a 1st time visitor to Winnipeg and being from Vancouver, we were looking for a good Bento box for lunch. As recommended from a local shop owner, we made our way to WAKOYA SUSHI. After deciding on what to have, we waited for our meal to show up. Miso soup was was promptly brought to us and very tasty. Very fresh ingredients as the green onions were firm and flavorful as the rest of the soup was too. Shortly after we finished our soup, my Bulgogi Bento arrived. As you can see in my photo, it was very satisfying. Everything in the Bento was excellent. Service was very good, our meal was good and the prices were good. Next time I'm in Winnipeg you find me here either for lunch or dinner.
