We came here tonight to feed two six-year-olds cake for supper for an birthday treat for one of them. The staff was delighted by the oohs and aahs from the boys over the case full or gorgeous cakes and pies and were entirely on the ball regarding how to deal with them. We had a warning about the draft at the first table we chose, paper and markers to colour with before we even sat down and so much patience with our two squirrelly dudes as they settled in and picked which cake they wanted. I think the one they both chose was the slayer cake. It was incredibly sweet but insanely good and came out with a candle and a rousing singing of happy Birthday for the birthday kid. I went with the mocha torte and it was delicious. The very serious and mature male adult with us couldn’t handle having cake for supper so he went with a chilli burger and fries. He says the fries were really good and the burger was okay. Not the best he’s ever had but not bad. By the end of our visit we were wrangling a pair of excitement and sugar fuelled tornados. Staff were quick to provide us with take out boxes for unfinished chocolate cakes and slices of cheesecake to go for adults too mature to join the fun. Overall was a wonderful experience and we will be doing it again. Edited to add: cheesecakes were German chocolate and peanut butter chocolate chip. Both were heavenly.

Staff is quick and professional. Shop is clean and cake presentation is nice. Closed to dine in with take out only-this is not posted on website. Several people disappointed. Cakes are heavy on icing and not much cake. 4 people, four different cakes. Nobody finished theirs-but not because of the portions which were on the small size. Pictured on 8 inch plate- as sliced. Another “Winnipeg Institution” that somehow manages to get 5 star reviews- is it nostalgia from first dates and a trendy neighbourhood? Is it high prices that make one convince oneself that it’s yummy and worth it? I can’t figure it out. Schmoo cake-left with a dry mouth and a sore stomach Vegan/Oreo- waaay too much sweet icing-pretty sure it’s just Betty Crocker icing (vegan too). If not - it tastes EXACTLY the same. Slayer cake- best of the ones we tried Crazy Chocolate-Enjoyable but the smallest portion Carrot Cake- waaay too much cream cheese icing - with Barely any sweetener- if you like eating cream cheese on its own by the spoonful you might like it because there’s very little cake. It was busy so I guess they’re doing something right, but I won’t be back. Worth trying once and you make up your mind if it’s worth another visit.

🧁 ‘’Baked Expectations’’. To my opinion, hands down the best cake shop for me in Winnipeg at Osbourne village. The cakes tasted amazingly soft and creamy. Being a Cheesecake & Torte lover myself I couldn’t help but take a few slices of the different irresistible cakes! While there are many options from Caramel Pecan, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, German Chocolate, Oreo Cookie, Apple Bavarian Cheesecake, Cherry Royale and the list doesn’t stop...my personal two favorites are the ‘Shmoo Torte’ which had angel food cake with lots of pecans, loads of whipped cream and tons of caramel sauce! And you can also get extra caramel sauce to go along with it if you desire. And the other - Caramel Chocolate Cheesecake which had mocha cream sandwiched between thin chocolate layers and was topped with whipped cream! The presentation of all the cakes in this shop here are just awesome! Overall I would definitely say this place is a must visit if you’re here in Manitoba. It surely exceeded way beyond my expectations! 🇨🇦🍰

I tried schmoo torte in my first visit as it was described as the iconic cake in Winnipeg. Well, it's a Canadian version of pecan pie except pecan was mixed with cake with caramel on top. Pretty ok. But I'm more impressed with Pavlova which is a merengue based cake with strawberries, cream, and condensed milk filling. It strikes the balance of sweet and citrus tastes. They both went well with hot tea. I went with Hazelnut Merengue in my second visit. Its sweetness is so overwhelming that I can hardly taste the hazelnut. I paired it with rootbeer, which was a bad move!!! The staff is friendly and helpful. The environment is decent. Can be suitable for dating even. Parking can be tough especially around the rush hours. Overall, it was a great experience and it set me in the right mood for what I was going to try. Highly recommended

Wow, wow, wow!!! I’ve been coming here for 30 years and the place still takes my breath away! Freshly baked cheese cake and other hugely creative desserts…there is literally too much to choose from (and that is a positive!!!). This is a Winnipeg icon that you HAVE to experience even if you are here for just one day. Our server Jordyn was spectacular. She made sure everything was perfect, even bringing a second cappuccino out because she was worried the first one just didn’t finish correctly and may not have been perfect. All of the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel like we were the most important people in the world. It is always a pleasure visiting a well run establishment that takes pride in their product. The desserts looked amazing and the taste even exceeded our high expectations after that!

Well for the last few cake orders, I’ve been pretty disappointed. This last take out order was for a whole cheesecake for a party, and I love cheesecake!! That’s what’s so disappointing. 1st the cookie layer is about an inch thick, 2nd the cake was loaded with nuts, so it took away from the creaminess of the cheesecake. 3rd the cake was over baked and had this layer of crust on the outside that starts to fall off the cake. Honestly not “the” place to go anymore, told my husband it’s not worth the drive across the city anymore, and waste our money. Go to Costco for your cheesecake. I’ve attached photos 1st is to show the amount of dry cookie layer and amount of nuts. 2nd photo shows how my cake is separating from itself. Cant even choke it down.
