This was the worst experience I have ever had in Winnipeg. When I got here, I had seen someone take a drink from the patio outside to the Cavern down below. It was my first time here and I paid $7.50 for a drink. I had two sips and we were going to go down to the Cavern and because there was no signs saying you could not take your drink from the patio to the downstairs, that's what I did. I took one step off of the stairs and this guy yells and me and when I turned around he took my drink out of my hand. He took it inside and told me that he poured it down the drain. He started giving me heck saying that they could have lost their liquor license. Maybe if there were signs, I would have known but because there was not, I did not know. I explained to him that it was my first time there, that I was not even from the city, and if I had known, of course I would not have done that. He was so disrespectful when he was talking to me and it was quite degrading. I told him it would not happen again and he should just let it go with a warning but instead, he stood there and argued with me for about 15 minutes, listening to how reasonable I was being yet he seemed to have been on a 'power trip' and would not let me have my drink back. I was being very respectful and did not raise my voice once. He started saying that I was too drunk (This was my first drink of the evening) and then told me to leave. I asked to speak to a manager but he would not let me go inside to find them and refused to find them for me. I was very unimpressed with this establishment. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a pub...
Read moreVisited here yesterday night with a couple friends. The short red headed waitress wearing a pokadot dress was serving us. Very unimpressed with her level of professionalism. Not only did she take 10 minutes to bring us menus but she made us pay after ordering two drinks each "because it was the end of her shift" I was okay with that however I noticed she was still helping customers & serving other tables for nearly 45 minutes after she made his pay. After paying we also asked if she could bring us some waters to which to which her rude self responded with "as I said I'm off so I'll see if the next girl on can" (we never ended up getting those waters) needless to say me & my friends will not be returning there...
Read moreThe worst thing about the toad is the clientele. Everything else is comfortable, well done and affordable. The staff has been around for a long time so while you might lose out on some peppy front of the line customer service, the trade off is you get some seasoned employees who have seen it all. The menu is nice, serving traditional pub fare at a small premium. The burger , the Reuben and the fish are all worth grabbing. The best aspects of the toad though are easily the cavern and the whiskey bar attached. It sort of feels like cheating with them in mind, but it creates a nice and natural balance between the different groups the come out to Osborne on the weekend. Then everyone mingles...
