Myself and my partner enjoyed a wonderful evening here. We booked a lobster meal via Thomson holidays at the Riu Garopa and it was worth every penny. The fish is so fresh you can taste the sea. The dressing on the tuna I had was clever; comprising of red pepper corns, white-wine sherry vinegar, and freshly cut herbs. The Lobster was exquisite, charred and served with a garlic butter sauce. The service was with a smile and the owner / manager walked around and spoke casually with most of the visitors. I ordered the octopus with sweet mashed potatoes — the octopus itself was absolutely delicious, tender and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, the mash was served freezing cold, which really took away from the dish.

Also worth noting: the Tomahawk steak is advertised both on the menu and around the restaurant, but when I asked to order it, I was told it’s not actually available. A bit misleading and disappointing.

An hour to get a burger in a nearly empty restaurant! The staff never actually spoke to us at any time during our visit. Just minimal contact delivering menus and writing down what we pointed at with no attempt at verbal communication in any language. The owner is fully aware of the situation, she spent the entire time sitting at the next table chatting with her mates. There are plenty of mediocre places to eat in Santa Maria. I'd suggest that you try one...
